The Maple Leafs have traded Carlo Colaicovo and Alex Steen to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Lee Stempniak.
Stempniak, 25, a native of West Seneca, N.Y., scored 27 goals two seasons ago.
This season, he has three goals and 10 assists through 14 games.
Is this a good move for the Leafs? Have your say in our forum.
Colaiacovo, Steen dealt to Blues
Going for last place and a chance for good draft choices by bringing in 3rd and 4th stringers like Holwegg is OK but using draft choices to get them defies logic. If the Laffs' roster doesn't change until opening day, this team would be challenged to win the Calder Cup.
Biggest disappointment for me since Fletch's arrival is his slowness in heaving out every single person below his level in Laffs hierarchy who had anything to do with JFJ or a JFJ decision.

Some may argue that Antropov and Poni played on Sundin's line, and Blake once scored 40 goals...yup I'll give you that...but who are you replacing Sundin with to make the 1st line???? Stajan?...Moore?...Williams?...Grabovsky? Give me a break! And if Sundin couldn't help Blake get 40, who on this team will?
No matter which way you look at this team (and I use that term loosely), there's no scoring, not really much in the way of defensive prowess, just a bunch of overpaid 3rd and 4th line pluggers.
And no leadership either. Who would you give the "C" to? Kaberle??? Does he even speak?...McCabe??? sure... he can lead the team from his couch after the Leafs tell him to stay home. No...give the fans the Finger as their new Captain...with this team nothing could be more appropriate.
