The Maple Leafs have traded Carlo Colaicovo and Alex Steen to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Lee Stempniak.
Stempniak, 25, a native of West Seneca, N.Y., scored 27 goals two seasons ago.
This season, he has three goals and 10 assists through 14 games.
Is this a good move for the Leafs? Have your say in our forum.
Colaiacovo, Steen dealt to Blues
The past few years, they've had guys like Tucker, McCabe and Wellwood, who seemed to think they were untouchable and just floated out there - and were allowed to play half hearted by the coach and GM.
This year, they have a coach and GM who will not stand for that.
You need to have a coach who will put pressure on the players and make them accountable for their play.
No, Toronto has no superstars this year, but they are a faster, harder working team - and, at least they have a good future now.

Melnyk must be smoking some funny cigarettes if he really thinks this time will come up with a Top 4 finish in the East. Bottom 4 is more like it.

Too bad that they just start and don't actually show up for the games.

Hopefully, Mr. Burke can make some more good moves and get some more picks and young players.
