a poor display by a couple of poor sports. Sad to see someone who was somebody implode like that but hey he's Patrick Roy not exactly the most stable dude around.

The kid should be charged criminally that should be an easy one. that wasn't even close to hockey, it was assault plain and simple.

Both Roys should be banned for life.

he should have got at least 30 games. That is "bullying" at it's best. there is no place in junior hockey for that. I think that the quebec comissioner just dosen't get it. shame on him

Seven games is a joke , the spoiled brat should have at least got 25 games and his father should banned forever.

I would suggest that there is a young goaltender who will get absolutely no protection from the refs going forward at all. His entire career took a massive leap off a bridge with those actions. He will be very lucky to get drafted at all. As Mr. Bonds has just found out, professional sport teams and their owners want nothing to do with such troublemakers. It doesn't help market the sport in any city.

The whole fight reminded me of the movie "Rollerball". Hockey, in general, should be embarrassed by these antics.

That wasnt a fight; it was a mugging of a defenseless innocent non combatant!!!!!

"Roy" would be more at home in South Central LA.

HE's an insecure little *&^%$ (think cat) who's level of machismo is such that he deems beating a pacifist player a success, an achievement.

What a joker!!

In closing i would suggest "Roy" remember this "what goes around comes around" The clock is ticking "Roy"

The incident is another example of the results of bad parenting. Unfortunately, this type of behaviour doesn't stay on the ice. Fortunately, the parent was also punished. The penalty should have been at least triple what it was.

Of course it is not enought!! This Patrice R. is a borderline nut,and he is creating the same with his son. This guy should be removed from junior or amateur hockey completely.

If it were only a fight, then yes the punishment would be fair. But this was not a fight it was a premeditated assault on a player who did not take part in any way except to be a victim. Call it a part of the game if you want to delude yourself, but it was a criminal assault and should immediately have resulted in a life time ban from hockey and immediate referral of all tapes to the RCMP for prosecution to the maximum extent of the law.

And they wonder why hockey is so irrelevant to most people in Canada, this only goes to prove that it is no longer a game of which we can be proud. A final nail in the coffin of minor hockey, maybe not but one more giant step towards it. Nice going, we expected nothing more from the dad but the son should have known better.

Both father and son seem to have a propensity for violence. Didn't dad go nuts at his residence in Coloroda and rip some doors off the hinges during some kind of a domestic rage? As for the son I guess if you can't stop the puck then you have to choose another venue to gain notoriety. The suspenion is just another joke in hockey. Yes fighting is part of hockey so long as 2 players want to fight. I view what Roy did the same as beating the feces out of someone outside a hockey arena who clearly does not want to fight; assault and battery, plain a simple with thousands of witnesses. Should have been fined heavily and hopefully sued by the victum. Have to wonder if his name wasn't Roy if he'd even be playing at that level. His record; not very good.
