Are you happy with the Sens' offseason moves?
Thu, August 28, 2008

The Sens are a team that went to the Stanley Cup final two years ago before suffering a disappointing season in 2007-08.

They have a new coach and now no more Ray Emery.

Can the Senators turn it around and make a fresh start next season? Have your say in our forum.

why is cory clouston from the sens' farm team not getting any consideration? he comes with great credentials and has risen through the ranks quickly.

oh, probably someone Ottawa could depend on and piss off the leaf fans at the same time. Meaning give leaf fans a real reason to hate us. LOL

Why not give DeBoer or Hartsburg a shot .. they have coached in some pressure-cooked games .. leave Hartley where he is ..

Beats the hell out of me..... ummm Chef Ramsey... But I really have no clue who they should hire but which ever coach gets hired has a lot of work ahead of himself. Expecially with a demanding ownership who wants actual results.

Who cares their a no where team that have never won anything and never will.

this is the funniest thing i heared for a long time:

"Sources say the Senators were concerned about how Tortorella's over-the-top tirades would affect the atmosphere in the dressing room."

Good analogy re the Lightning Jake. In fact, the way things are going with some teams throwing the bulk of their annual cap at 4 to 5 players, soon there will be about 15 to 20 Tampa Bay Lightning clones. And when that happens look for one of those teams that chose to sign more of the middle range players, thereby spreading out the talent over 4 lines, to come up with a Cup.

As for Heatley, a sign of what he can do with two big line-mates came in the World Cup. He's a pure sniper and needs someone to get him the puck. Spezza is just too slow and too soft.

Interesting to hear Hossa talking about offering a Cup discount to Pittsburgh in order to stay there. He lead all Penguins in playoff scoring I believe -how did the other side of that trade with Atlanta work out for Ottawa (i.e. Heatley)? And I'm talking playoffs when it really counts, not regular season.

Melnyk has talked about a Cup discount in Ottawa - does he mean Spezza and Heatley signing huge contracts then disappearing in the playoffs? Ottawa reminds me of another team with 3 high priced forwards - the Lightning before Richards went to Dallas.

Ottawa's heading in the same direction - good luck with your Cup discount Eugene!!!

Sigh. What's the use Wayne? He's a legend in his own mind, a self-centered know-it-all who's never wrong (in his mind) but is quick to insult others for stating what they believe. In other words, no one else is entitled to an opinion if it does not conform to his own, and when they do, he feels it necessary to demonstrate his huge ego by gratuitously tossing out insults. Again, in his mind, it probably adds an inch to a vital part that is otherwise insignificant.

To paraphrase Roseanne Barr: "(This) guy is a lump like a doughnut. So, first you gotta get rid of all the stuff his mom did to him. And then you gotta get rid of all that macho crap that they pick up from beer commercials. And then there's my personal favorite, (his) ego."
