Are you happy with the Sens' offseason moves?
Thu, August 28, 2008

The Sens are a team that went to the Stanley Cup final two years ago before suffering a disappointing season in 2007-08.

They have a new coach and now no more Ray Emery.

Can the Senators turn it around and make a fresh start next season? Have your say in our forum.

Finally a young coach with fresh ideas for the new NHL.

Player accountability will be huge so we should'nt have to indure another season a la Emery fiasco and someone who can light a fire under Spezza. Let's hope that Murray will let Harstburg run the team without interference.

Good luck Craig.

Hartsburg is a good coach BUT even he can repair a team that has NO HEART, NOT WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE TO WIN AT ANYCOST and SUBPARE GOALTENDING. They will proabily make the playoffs but will have the same kind of result as this year.

Hartsburg will win us the Cup!

We are the most successful Canadian franchise, Mlakar and Melnyk said as much!

Wooo!

He was not my first choice, but certainly not my last choice either. Either way the Sen's now have a coach and can start building the team for next year!

sure why not. If management feel he's the right man for the job so be it. All I ask is at least the Sens make the playoffs next year and an added bonus would be not to croak in the first round.

Agreed those are the two things that will defiently help. It's going to be a rough hockey season for the Ottawa coach thats for sure

I agree with you hockey fan about the owners and managers. I think they need someone with a few years experience in the NHL behind the bench and between the pipes. I am certainly not saying those are the only 2 areas that need to be looked at but I beleive many teams are built around those 2 people.

Pat Burns would work as well. The problem is the owners and managers are really expecting actual results for the next season. probally to even donimate the NHL season and possibly make it to the Stanly Cup final

What's wrong with Pat Burns, why has his name been dropped off the list? He has actual NHL coaching experience and expects 100% from his players, if you dont give 100% you will sitting on the bench, its as easy as that! Hockey players want to play, they learn quickly with Burns behind the bench. But on the other hand he stands behind and fights for his players. I am sick and tired of wimps behind the bench telling the players to turn it up a notch while the coach just stands there with a blank look on his face! IF you want to win the cup stop hiring juniors, let some other team give them their break, go after someone whom has proven themselves.
