Are you happy with the Sens' offseason moves?
Thu, August 28, 2008

The Sens are a team that went to the Stanley Cup final two years ago before suffering a disappointing season in 2007-08.

They have a new coach and now no more Ray Emery.

Can the Senators turn it around and make a fresh start next season? Have your say in our forum.

Great win by the Sens over the Marlies last night!

Just a comment about Bell's hit on Alfie. As Paul Maurice said, it was a great hit - we needed to see more of that during the season.

Brian Murray said, and I quote, "I thought he got blind-sided". Earth to Brian; Alfie absolutely got blind-sided - caught admiring his own pass. Mr. Murray certainly must know more about the game of hockey than he's letting on - if he thought it was a dirty hit, he needs to watch some old game tapes of hall-of-famer Scott Stevens who made a career out of hits like Bell's last night. Just a fabulous hockey hit!

Dany Heatly commented that a player can see another player in a vulnerable position and either go after him or let up. Heatly asking someone to take the moral high ground - that's rich. Does he mean like Chris Neil (sp?) let up on the hit he made on Drury late last season? I'm sure there are other examples.

Will the Senators make the post-season? With one game left, we don't know yet.

Funny how these comments from latent Sens fans surface only when they actually DO something against the Leafs after 4 straight losses, two of them shutouts. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm no Leafs fan as most others in here know, but that denigrating "Laffs" and "suck" stuff adds nothing to the debate. All it does it betray the authors as juveniles.

As for the Sens BEING in the playoffs, don't start celebrating until after tonight when they play a rested Boston team in the second of back-to-back games. A loss, combined with two Philly wins and they can still miss out.

And if they remain in 6th, and Washington overtakes Carolina for 3rd, guess who they have to play in the opening round?

In any even, the Habs are going to the Eastern final this year and, depending upon who comes out of the West, maybe even to the Cup.

Well to all you leaf fans that just trashed the SENS....Take your head out of your A*@ and look at the score of last nights game. Oh yea Leafs are NOT!!! in the playoffs again. Say what you will about the SENS but at least they make it to the playoffs.

GO SENS GO!!!!!

Sens pounded the Laffs tonight!! All you idiot Laff fans are just jealous that Ottawa has a playoff team and the Laffs miss the playoffs for the third year in a row!!

Get out your golf clubs losers and doubt the Laffs will make the playoffs again next year.

Sundin if he is smart wont be back after the Laffs treated him like dirt trying to pressure him into a trade. Laffs organization is a bloody joke the way they treat they star players.

Looks good on them missing out yet again!!

They will make it to the playoffs but getting to the 3rd round would be a miracle.

Leafs gave up long ago. They just want enough points to miss any kind of draft pick.

Sens are a bunch of losers, they disappeared in the finals last year and have yet to reappear for this playoff run. They have tonnes of talent on paper, but no guts whatsoever. Spezza and Heatly wouldn't go into a corner if their lives depended on it. Emery clearly should have been sent down to the minors for his first offense, it would have been dealt with, he would have gotten the message and the drama would not be the distraction that it seems to be, just another excuse for a vastly underacheiving team!

Go Leafs!

This situtation has more irony than a Centrum Vitamin...I can't wait to see the Leafs stick it to the Sens. All kidding aside, has there every been a team that has tanked so badly half way through the season like the Sens?

The Senators may make it in , I hope not though, but even if they do it will be a quick first round exit, the Senators have no leadership as stated by a former Senator Rob Ray on Off the Record and they have no grit for playoff hockey, Alfredson is not a take charge type of leader and leadership is everything in the playoffs, players follow there leader, with the Emery Saga still fresh the whole team is divided Sens have to re group and start from scratch....

I love it. The Leafs miss the playoffs but can still knock the Sens out. Can't stand the Leafs but I hate the Sens even more. Too funny.

I think maybe the days of calling them a "sad sack" division are over BenTO. First of all, they are winners of 2 of the past 3 Cups.

Secondly, Carolina and Washington both have 92 points which puts them 5 behind NJ and 1 back of NYR, and ties them with Ottawa and Boston. That after some 80 games.

Hardly what you would call "sad sack."

Similarly, Minnesota sits 3rd out west with 95 pts - just 3 back of Anaheim, but only a couple ahead of Dallas and Colorado, 3 up on Calgary and 6 ahead of Nashville. Does that make the Northwest a sad-sack division as well?
