Are you happy with the Sens' offseason moves?
Thu, August 28, 2008

The Sens are a team that went to the Stanley Cup final two years ago before suffering a disappointing season in 2007-08.

They have a new coach and now no more Ray Emery.

Can the Senators turn it around and make a fresh start next season? Have your say in our forum.

Kevin,

Yeah The Sens made it to the final last year...good on them. It was the only second time they've made it out of the second round twice in last 10 years.

Sure the Leafs have missed the playoffs the last three years but they are still top three in play off games played in the past ten years. They may not have made the finals or won the cup but when the do get in the almost certainly go farther than the perennial choke and burn Sens.

Making the playoffs 10 yrs in a row is great until you look close and see the team has lost in the first round 6 (soon to be 7) times and made past the 2nd round twice.

When the Sens win 3 playoff series in row over the Leafs or win the cup then you can brag. I'll even listen to you a little if the beat the Leafs once in the playoffs but until then even the most die hard Sens fan has to admit that the Sens are a pitiful team come play off time.

Exactly. I said the odds were not in Ottawa's favour. Again, thank you Toronto Thugs. Good point, Vince...this is about a sport and cities...not politics or countries...

I'm for the Sens, but probably be Pens in 5 maybe 6 games by the look of things.

John, do you have any clue about the game of hockey. You actually think that Roberts should have been suspended 3 games for that little 2-sided scuffle at the end of the game???? All I can say to that is WOW. Being upset that he beat your sens single handedly, shouldn't cloud your judgement on the rules of hockey.

It is a shame to see how people love to turn these commentaries into heated debates about how one team sucks and the other blows.

We are talking about one of the hottest teams in the league facing off against one of the weakest teams in the playoffs.

As much as I would like to see the Sens move on, it does not look to good with all the issues (injuries and confidence) that have happened this year.

Remember family, that only one team wins it all each year. Having been 7 rows up at a Cup game last year, you know what it takes for your team to get there. You also know that vindictive people who have never experienced something like that in the flesh - truly have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to playoff hockey.

It's too bad (I think) almost anyone else pulling the crap Gary Roberts does gets suspended or heavily penalized.

The Pens have about 20 free agents next year and have one player taking up 20% of their payroll so this better be the year they go far.....

I'm affraid they'll need more then "luck" to make it through the first round. For once that Gerber had a decent game in net,the offence remains non-existent.Like in the cup finals last year, the "eggs in my pocket" duo of Heatley & Spezza have all but disapeared. No Alfie,Fisher,Kelly and now,a banged-up Volchenkov,Ottawa will be lucky to win a single game.

Bye bye hens again. No heart on that team. Hopefully Pens will sweep them so they can work on their golf games early.

Were Heatley and Spezza even playing last night cause I did not notice them.

Fore!

Hey observer, if you don't win the cup it means NOTHING!!! Wow u won a conference, nice job!!!! LOL... MTL fan here, so i am not a Leaf sympathizer but comon, don't chirp about your team when they haven't won a darn thing yet!!!!!

Another year and captain Alfredsson who is made of glass is resting up for another good golf season. They only hope for Ottawa is for the whole Pittsburgh team gets wiped out by a tornado and lose by default. If one player survives even Ottawa loses. Brian Murray is not there man and could be gone at the end of the season Melnick wants a cup bad Murray will never be able to deliver

Worse playoff game ever...look like the Sens are the ones tanking for business powers that be in the NHL....sad state...could have created a better story line for the NHL's poster boy to go unscathed then this tripe
