Are you happy with the Sens' offseason moves?
Thu, August 28, 2008

The Sens are a team that went to the Stanley Cup final two years ago before suffering a disappointing season in 2007-08.

They have a new coach and now no more Ray Emery.

Can the Senators turn it around and make a fresh start next season? Have your say in our forum.

I think the Sen’s should keep Spezza, Emery, Neil and Redden as a Toronto fan I love what they bring to every game. Oh yeah I love Murry as well “Suffering Succotash” but he is a great coach and GM.

What a bunch of chokers but we’ll hear lots of excuses like oh we were playing hurt, we got screwed by the Refs, Mark Bell was a goon who hurt our players. I say Marc Bell just exposed your team as weak notice no one stood up to him when it happened. Marc Bell could run for Prime Minister after that game and win in a land slide.

The best part though is listening to the Ottawa radio stations, reading the newspapers and blogs. What a bunch of band wagon jumpers. Great start and you did set a few new records not in how great the Sen’s were but in how fast they collapsed. They folded like a cheap tent.

SUCK SENS SUCK

Wayne I dont golf in the GTA, I golf right here in Ottawa, as for your so called fans, all 4 of you.

You guys should start a fan club, and you could be just like the Sens, out swinging their clubs.Well they will probably be out there next month anyway once their broken nails heal.

What's the big deal with the Sen's the team has never performed, never won anything, they have no history.Making it to the Cup final once in their history, and being humiliated by a real hockey team. By the way I saw an awful lot of Sens jerseys last night in the Ottawa stands; whats wrong your puny little city cant support it's own team.

Golf, of course! :-)

the hens sucked since mid december, and they had the 4th worst record in the league since january 1th. no surprise they bailed out in the first round. they couldn't even put up a fight. the olny palyer who did something was Gerber.

i'm sure Eugene was impressed by their effort.

golf hens golf!

Heatly and Spezza elite players. That's a laugh. As long as there is no pressure these 2 are probably the best in the league but put something on the line and they disappear. Mayb Toronto can use them and put them on a line with Sundin

The Sens problem started with Emery, then Redden. I like Gerber as a goalie but the team did not help him at all. Since December, you cannot blame the teams woes on Gerber. They all sucked and they need to clean house. Sorry, the injury problem does not cut it as they were healthy when they were losing games in January and February. GOlf Sens GOlf

Hey Wayne wake up.Speeding in north america is a criminal offence.Dangerous driving causing DEATH is a criminal offence no matter where you go in this civilized world,so now do you get clueless.

They SOLD OUT, how else could you explain people who skate since the time they can walk, all of a sudden forget how to pass crisply and play the basic fundamentals of hockey. They could of at least given the perception of some effort... The winner of the cup is predetermined earlier to a team that markets the NHL best… superstars are now produced as cheaply as “Boy Bands” instead of real skill when you had to earn it….

I see someone else with my name is making commentary I don't agree with so I will add an initial to separate myself from him. Emerry's antics didn't help. All the injuries, and media pressure didn't help. Firing the coach didn't help. Did the Sens slow down, or did everyone else just catch up? Doesn't matter now, but changes need to be made. Emery should be packed and ready to go to a minor league team somewhere, and hopefully he can rebuild his career. He's not really a bad goaltender, but he's also not nearly as good as the media claimed he was last season. Chris Neal will be gone too, I expect, and it's too bad. He's a gutsy player with a huge heart, and enough talent to be a star somewhere. Maybe Toronto? I'd like to see him paired with McCabe, who had a tough season, and may also be moving. They are two of a kind. Keep Alfredson. The Leafs are about the only team in the league that has no real sense of loyalty to their best players, and look at all the hardware they've won in the last half century. Keep Heatley. Everyone else is fair trade bait. Grab Nonis, now that he's available. He at least has sense enough to wait for a good offer before he deals a good player away.
