Are you happy with the Sens' offseason moves?
Thu, August 28, 2008

The Sens are a team that went to the Stanley Cup final two years ago before suffering a disappointing season in 2007-08.

They have a new coach and now no more Ray Emery.

Can the Senators turn it around and make a fresh start next season? Have your say in our forum.

wow just get rid of both goalies @ this point bcuz there just not good bring up brian elliot man that guy's sick. i think they should make a couple of trades like spezza and emery for dipietro and a draft pick. he's a really amzaing goalie and he can really show his talent off in ottawa since there i think a good team.

Pete ...your right the Sens have won ONCE (1927)since the NHL started giving out the Cup in 1926... but they faded into oblivion since then and now after every playoff round they have been in..

So straighten up your little Sens helmet and get your plastic sword and repeat after me...

FORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My team may not be as good as your team but no one said hey we may be as good as the Habs that lost only 8 games.

AND you were supposed to contend (if not win)after losing in the finals last year.

This about sums it up...

Mike Commodore leading scorer(2pts) in playoffs for Sens.

See you next year!

This year's team was at best an awesome first line, a steady generic defence, with a goalie who was left to dry too many times. Murray made a mistake in bringing in Paddock as the head coach. Paddock has been a very moderately successful coach in the past at best. There are usually reasons in the past for that. The Sens need a head coach, second and third line forwards that can regularly contribute offensively, grit on the fourth line, a puck moving dman who doesn't regularly get beat on the defensive side of the puck, and a backup goalie that works AND doesn't divide the room.

Beyond the first line, I thought most of the forwards were at the very best 3rd or 4th liners on most other teams in the league. Redden is a dman who is a good puck mover prone to getting beat by oncoming forwards and gaffes in critical times in games.

Emery's prima donna attitude has been prevalent in other sports where a mid level player thinks he's God's gift to the game and above the team structure.

There is a lot wrong when Mike Commodore is your leading point getter in the playoffs.

Funny how fans of teams always make excuses rather than look at the facts.

The facts are that in the playoffs, your "best" players have to play their best. Spezza and Heatley are both "soft" and lack heart.

The word around the league is hit Heatley or Spezza 1-2 times early in the game and they will vanish for the remainder. From the mid-point of the season to the end - they did.

Sign Brin Campbell for $8 million/yr - then you'd have another guy to go with Spezza and Heatley who won't go in the corners, never block a shot with the game on the line and who may have skill - but who has no heart.

If he's healthy, they should target Havlat.

mike

There is a difference between speeding and drunk driving but I guess you didnt know that.

One is a criminal offence and doesnt have to involve being in a car accident and the other is a fine if there isnt an accident just speeding like all of us do sometimes.

happy summer mike

I guess Wayne finaly woke up to that there is no differance between drinking and driving and speeding and killing.

Happy Summer Wayne

Just as a reminder, thinking that Vancouver will trade Luongo for anything the Sens have is laughable at best. Bobby Lu is the only reason the Canucks were anywhere near the post-season this year and quite possibly the best goalie in the NHL today. Getting players like Campbell, Shanahan may possibly be realistic, but don't hold your breath for Luongo, he won't be moving. Not for Spezza, Heatley, Alfie or anyone else the Sens have.

the hens made the play-offs? they didn't make the play-offs, they run out of time and could lose any more games. that's more like stumbling than making. :-)

they good young talens? their farms system is empty.

the hens won 9 cups? :-) yeah, just the team ceased to exist for like 60 years. you hens fans just plain pathetic.

You wouldn't think that the Sens need to change much looking at them on paper, but I don't think that is the case. Spezza one assist in the playoffs, new contract 7 years $49 million, get rid of him before his no trade clause kicks in, he is only good when Alfie is on the same line, he is definately not a leader, just likes to flash a smile for the media, reminds me of Ray. Then there is Wade Dedwood, $6.5 million this year, thats about $100,000 for each give away in his own end, he needs to go too. A new coach is also needed, doesn't work to be GM and coach at the same time.
