What should the Habs do in the off-season?
Thu, June 5, 2008

Having a big, tough team suits some NHL clubs, but isn't the top priority of the Montreal Canadiens.

So don't look for general manager Bob Gainey to dismantle his smooth-skating club after their playoff defeat to the bruising Philadelphia Flyers.

Gainey and Carbonneau met with the media to discuss the season that just ended, in which the unfancied Canadiens finished first in the Eastern Conference and in goal-scoring in the 30-team league.
Full story: Gainey will be busy in the off-season

What do you think Gainey should do with Canadiens over the summer?

30 years ago hockey was something fans associated with. Fans used to enjoy supportng their team because the fans could associate with the players. The fans regarded the hockey players as one of them.

Today's hockey is a business. It really doesn't matter to the players if they win a cup or not. As long as they collect their fat pay cheques these athletes are very happy.

The Canadiens are trailing the Flyers for a very simple reason...the big players want to start their summer holidays asap. They show no effort whatsoever on the ice. The quality of their game literally stinks.

Happy summer!

Montreal has too many soft Europeans on it's team. These guys have proven time and time again they don't have what it takes to get the job done. Montreal was lucky to win the first game this series will be over in 5. Montreal can join the Senators and leafs on the golf course.

The mighty habs cant win even with the help of the refs with all the power plays they are getting.

The habs are done. The Bruins were right, price does have a problem with long shots and now the Flyers are using that info.

price will be a good goalie for a long time but now he is playing in the best league in the world and he has stuggled in more games than he has played well in.

also he needs to work on making the saves on them long shots, thats whats killing the habs, they should be easy saves for a goalie of his talent.

Pete...you just proved what kind of person you are by using a racist remark. You proved what I said about being obnoxious and come here just to shoot off your big mouth. You know absolutely nothing about hockey. Your probably one of those guys who has never put on a pair of skates or held a stick(uuummmmm the curved end goes on the ice Pete...sheesh) and they call Leaf fans arrogant.

You my friend (I use the tern loosly) show how immature and ignorant you are. Ifeel bad for all the good Oiler fans cause guys like you make it bad for the whole bunch.

GROW UP PETE!!!

your favorite Leaf buddy...

GO LEAFS GO!!

I have been honest regarding Prices ability in the Montreal net but last night was not his fault. Philly got three good goals. He will recover from last night and the decision to pull him may not have been a good one for Montreal's confidence.

I think his team let him down by allowing too much space to Philly. Right now they look like Boston did in the previous series and can't score. The two goals they got were lucky as they should have been a man short also in that 5 minute power play.

Right now it looks like Philly are in command and it is difficult to see Montreal recovering if they go three down after the next game.

OK - So Price let in a few in the first and looked human again. Still amazing for a 20 year old kid in his first season! He'll shut the door in the next game, like in game 7 against Boston.

And as we saw tonight, the Flyers will dig their own hole with the cheap shots, STUPID penalties, etc.

I still say the Habs in 6!

Montreal the "team" is full of soft Europeans and a coach who thinks his one year behind the bench makes him Scotty Bowman.

The officiating in the series is as bad as anything I've seen in the past 25-years. Ghost calls on the Flyers and no calls for the "tuff-guys".

As for the MTL "fans" - you're a bigger disgrace then the officiating. Oh yeah, it must have been Maple Leaf or Sens fans who booed National anthems and burned cars.

Where is the talk of separation when you need it?

Ever notice, seven, that every time that cypher who calls himself "Pete" responds to someone who calls him out on his idiotic "clown" and "moron" responses, he gets even more strident, even throwing i the cyber equivalent of hysterical laughter. That's a clear sign of someone needing psychiatric attention. He can dish it - but he can't take it.

It seems, since my last comment, that this poor soul has reached rock bottom ... and has started to dig. The living joke of the DB.

Keep looking for excusses for the Philly steak flyers. Thier trying to be like the flyers of old thar were cheats and bullies they push around after the play is dead... go back and replay the games I'm sure you guys are still working with BETA or VHS and replay all the cheap goals.. Habs should be up 2/0. Habs in 6 and thats being gracious... U PUTZ
