What should the Habs do in the off-season?
Thu, June 5, 2008

Having a big, tough team suits some NHL clubs, but isn't the top priority of the Montreal Canadiens.

So don't look for general manager Bob Gainey to dismantle his smooth-skating club after their playoff defeat to the bruising Philadelphia Flyers.

Gainey and Carbonneau met with the media to discuss the season that just ended, in which the unfancied Canadiens finished first in the Eastern Conference and in goal-scoring in the 30-team league.
Full story: Gainey will be busy in the off-season

What do you think Gainey should do with Canadiens over the summer?

Don't overstate the fan base in English Canada tacful. Yes the Leafs have not won a cup since 67 but its franchise fan base and wealth dwarfs your useless team. The playoffs will prove what a fraud this team really is. Enjoy your 1 round fair weather Habs fans.

Mike

Just because someone is English doesn't make them stupid enough to cheer for the Laughs! There are thousands upon thousands of Habs fans all across this country who are English.

The joke is you and the Laughs again!!!

Remember that 5-0 Ranger lead. That is what it takes mentally to win the Cup! They should win the Eastern division and lets hope the Western teams beat each other silly before Montreal arrives!

This is to Mike. Today this forum is for the Habs and comments like yours are ignorant. In particular, since you are a fan of Gutless Wonders like the Maple Leafs. They had a glorious opportunity to eliminate the Senators from the playoffs, and they blew it, like they have blown everything else for 41 years now, except making big bucks. I am proud of the Montreal Canadiens and their improvement over last year. Both Bob and Guy played a number of years under the most successful (in my opinion) coach, Scotty Bowman, and it is starting to show. Take another look Leaf Fans at what hard work, good management, taking a bit of a risk and determination can achieve.

Since the Habs have had the Bruins number for quite some time, it's safe to assume that we'll make it thru the first round w/ (relatively) no problem. (if they were in prison the Bruins would be the Habs' BITCHES! lol)

Where we go from there remains to be seen. As for the Sens - they haven't got it together this year & are in serious need of some solid goaltending.I expect them to fight really hard but get knocked out first round.

And for you disgruntled Laff fans:polish up your golf clubs (again) and "wait 'til next year" (the official team motto) as you have for the last 41 YEARS!!

GO HABS GO! :)

GO BRUINS GO! It's not the regular season now, Habs fans! Bergeron just got the ok to play, so watch out!

Excuse me Mike, but there are english people who grew up in Montreal and therefore are Habs fans..just because you are bitter about your Leafs ability to win hockey games for the past three decades..don't take it out on English speaking Habs fans...and you too, can basque in the glory of the Montreal Canadiens 25th Stanley Cup Parade. GO HABS GO!!!!

I'm with james all the way. Every time Montreal gets behind at home; penalty to the other team. They must hold the record for power plays via too many men on the ice.
Jimbob, 2008-04-07 22:20:01

Who cares about the Habs! This is Leafs Country, no body cares . If you are English and a Habs fan you are joke.
MIke, 2008-04-07 21:48:46

boston might as well put a man in the penalty box for the opening faceoff. the refs will make sure montreal gets all the breaks
