What should the Habs do in the off-season?
Thu, June 5, 2008

Having a big, tough team suits some NHL clubs, but isn't the top priority of the Montreal Canadiens.

So don't look for general manager Bob Gainey to dismantle his smooth-skating club after their playoff defeat to the bruising Philadelphia Flyers.

Gainey and Carbonneau met with the media to discuss the season that just ended, in which the unfancied Canadiens finished first in the Eastern Conference and in goal-scoring in the 30-team league.
Full story: Gainey will be busy in the off-season

What do you think Gainey should do with Canadiens over the summer?

Roy, while the "Greenhouses" analogy works, the building you wanted was the proverbial glass house. At least if your going to berate someone get it right.

Ok - so it's a french / english thing. Toronto and Ottawa vs Montreal thing - whatever!

Toronto and Ottawa doin' it together? ( Not quite sure...)

Anyways Toronto is right where everyone can take their shots and have fun doing it. They're going nowhere for awhile.

And Ottawa looks like it's not going to be swept - but sucked into the Pens machine and spit out as vapour trail.

Boys, like it or not the best Canadian hopes rest on Calgary and Montreal. Wouldn't that be great if they could both make it to the Cup final?

But there's a long way to go before that. Let's tune in for game 3 tonight and see what happens.

I know you guys will be doing it anyways even if you're bitchin and raggin

tommorrow - have fun!

I'll see what the Habs have tonight. After the better part of 2 games they should adjust.

The Bruins are doing the same thing to the Canadiens that the Flames are doing to the Sharks. Playing physical against there skilled players and making them pay with big hits.

Its harder to score in the playoffs because the checking is even tighter than it is in the regular season and the games are more physical.

If the skilled players arent willing to pay the price of taking hits to make plays and score goals there teams will be out golfing in a few more games.

Wayne, I find it amazing that someone as obviously backward as you is so quick to label others as idiots. People living in greenhouses really ought not to be throwing stones!

I think there probably is a french/english rivalry there. What I'm wondering is of the guys on the team are they all of french back ground?
Dwain, 2008-04-15 10:48:50

We are all Canadians, not French or English. We may speak French or English, but that's a language - or other languages.

Roy

Go back to the first time they played against each other. If they havent played before how can there be a toronto / montreal rivalry ?

Its the french against english idiot.

Dang if you had a brain in that huge melon of a head of yours you would be dangerous lol.
