What should the Habs do in the off-season?
Thu, June 5, 2008

Having a big, tough team suits some NHL clubs, but isn't the top priority of the Montreal Canadiens.

So don't look for general manager Bob Gainey to dismantle his smooth-skating club after their playoff defeat to the bruising Philadelphia Flyers.

Gainey and Carbonneau met with the media to discuss the season that just ended, in which the unfancied Canadiens finished first in the Eastern Conference and in goal-scoring in the 30-team league.
Full story: Gainey will be busy in the off-season

What do you think Gainey should do with Canadiens over the summer?

Amen BoHutch.

As a Montrealer and Habs fan, I'm disgusted by what happenned.

These are not true fans - these are drunk hooligans waiting for a chance to rampage.

Morons and Idiots!

Actually I now hope they lose after the damage some so called fans did after the game.

I'm a Sens fan I for one and would love to see the Habs make a run for the cup. In Ottawa a lot of the Habs fans I know supported the Sens last year.

I won't fly a flag or burn any cars when they win but will watch their games.

Go Habs

My comments were posted yesterday afternoon hours before the game. The Habs do have heart..with Saku Koivu as their captain, how could they not? And with Carbonneau and Muller behind them...what more would you expect? They ARE young and they're not always perfect...but with the leadership they have, they'll be fine!

And to the MORONS who destroyed the streets...I am a Habs Fan with my flag flying in the GTA. You have embarrassed yourselves, your city, your province, your COUNTRY and "your" team. Please stay out of the Bell Centre, stay OUT of the bars, stay off of the street. Set your OWN cars on fire, and wreck your own house, so we can celebrate and enjoy our team!

I can’t believe some of the derogatory comments that are being made here. I can only think that they are coming from Leaf fans who are watching with envy, and can never give another team credit. I’m a Habs fan, and have been since 62. I have watched mediocre teams win, and I have seen great teams loose. Is this not what makes it exciting and the greatest sport to watch? Are the Habs ready to win the cup this year? My heart says yes, but my brain tells me no. I take my hat off to the Boston Bruins. They made a great series out of it and it was wonderful to watch, in particular the goal tending. Thomas and Price both played exceptional and it’s too bad one eventually has to loose. And to those who think that a team with a European captain will never win a Stanley cup I say this, a team with a European captain will win a Stanley cup before the Maple Leafs do. It’s only a matter of time. You have to remember that on many Stanley Cup winners with North American captains, European players figured strongly in the equation to do so. How far will my team go? Well, right now they have at least another 4 games to play. Every game after that will be a bonus. I’m proud of their achievement this season. GO HABS GO!

I agree with Wayne.

I'm watching a lot of games these days and the Habs do look like the worst team left in the playoffs.

Unless Carey Price is miraculous there is no way the habs will leave the conference.

The team could play passaround on their powerplay in the regular season but now that there is some intensity and physicality, their powerplay doesn't work so well.

Aside from Mike Komasarik (sp?), I don't think the habs have the team toughness to succeed in the playoffs, where a lot of grit is required.

Detroit had to learn this lesson in the early to mid 90s and now it's the habs turn.

The Habs proved again that the seventh game at home means something. The Boston Bruins played a very strong game and a very strong series. They are a very hard working team that appears to have a great future. They play with a lot of heart. There is nothing like an "ORIGINAL SIX" match up in the playoffs. It could very likely end up being the best series of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Congratulations to both teams. It’s too bad there had to be a loser.

Any decent Montrealer would be ashamed of what has happened downtown this evening. With fans like this they have nothing to be proud of tonight now.

These mindless morons ruin everything for the team.

Price played very well but again was not really tested. In the two games he was tested Montreal gave up 10 goals.

The Stanley cup will not be on display in in Montreal or anywhere else in Canada this year once more. They will go very quickly in the next round as anyone watching can see Price is easily beaten up high and is definitely not Patrick Roy and the rest of the team cough up the puck when challenged.

I have to LOL b/c Hab fans that post here must have not watched the last 5 games.

One big win and they are predicting the Cup coming to Montreal again. Two games ago, they were nowhere to be seen.

But that is what a Habs fan is, invisible when their team loses.
