What should the Habs do in the off-season?
Thu, June 5, 2008

Having a big, tough team suits some NHL clubs, but isn't the top priority of the Montreal Canadiens.

So don't look for general manager Bob Gainey to dismantle his smooth-skating club after their playoff defeat to the bruising Philadelphia Flyers.

Gainey and Carbonneau met with the media to discuss the season that just ended, in which the unfancied Canadiens finished first in the Eastern Conference and in goal-scoring in the 30-team league.
Full story: Gainey will be busy in the off-season

What do you think Gainey should do with Canadiens over the summer?

The habs fan rioting made the american news channels and that led off there sports. so it wasnt just news in canada.

the habs were lucky last night, the flyers played 3 games in 4 nights, the flyers will win in 6.

Where were the Police, the SWAT teams,we got pictures and video out West and their wasn't a cop around, and even when you do catch some of these clowns they'll just get a slap on the wrist, a fine or probation. When it happened in Calgary the police stepped up, it's now the Dead mile.....

Go habs go i say...but hockey is over for me this season. Oh and STOP DESTROYING THE CITY YOU IDIOTS!! Get a life if you can't accept a loss...

Can you idiots from TORONA stop complaining about the "fans" that rioted in Montreal. Im suprised that informationed travelled all the way to the center of the hockey universe and that you actually cared even though it was not a Marlies/Leafs story. Those rioters were as much Habs fans as Darcy Tucker is a gentleman. Anyways Habs in 5 because the Flyers defense is just too old and slow. PS. Maybe the Leafs should sign them in the off season...LOL

Why has there not been a thread to discuss the officiating in the playoffs. It's absolutely brutal. Great if your a habs fan. There is no consistancy whatsoever. Whats holding or interference for one team is not for the other. Last nights call on Kovalev's goal was a joke. How can your stick still be on top of the net after you've hit the puck and it not be highsticking. Granted, his entire stick was not over the corssbar, but it doesn't have to be to merit highsticking. League is turning into a joke and turning fans off because of the peewee level refs. The refs must remember, people tune in to watch the players not them. Baseball, football etc. all have the odd conrtversy, but not like hockey, it's every friggin game.

As usual we hear about how the big bad french team has no class, has no chance of winning. Change the song please, 'cause personally I'm sick of hearing it!

IT IS NOT, I REPEAT NOT a french or english issue. It is not, or at least shouldn't be a political issue. It's hockey people! A Canadian game enjoyed by people like me, an english and french speaking Toronto born, Montreal raised, Native, and my family! MY son is proud when the Habs win. So am I. When they're not winning, I cheer for Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Quebec city...hell, any CANADIAN team that is there as opposed to an American team. Am I the only one that finds this normal?

As for the booeing of the National anthem, just curious, ever been to a Habs game? Well I have...12 times this year alone. Not once this year did I hear anyone boo. Or last year for that matter. In fact, most of the people sitting around me were SINGING in both official languages!

True HABS fans were not responsible for what happened here either. The problem is most people, when they don't understand or are afraid or shocked at what they see must use their logic to identify the problem. That's what is happening here. Usually this eventually turns into a witch hunt too. Why not blame only the french fans? No..maybe it was the english? Maybe it was the english dressed up like french people SPEAKING french only to confuse us and get them in trouble! Or maybe, just maybe, the Americans came across the border from Vermont, disguised as french speaking Canadians, with only one thing on their minds, taking over Montreal one team at a time!

hmm...something to think about!

Those people that vandalized downtown Montreal were not fans of the Canadiens. They were petty criminals looking for a way to capitilize on large groups of people. The problems started long after the game was over. Look closely at the videos of who is doing this stuff...
TNT, 2008-04-25 00:04:52

It used to be that you cheered for a Canadian Team to win the Cup. Even when your team was eliminated. But guess what, there's no room for you losers on my wagon. Epecially when you bad mouth my team and city when you KNOW THAT THOSE ACTIONS WERE NOT BY TRUE HABS FANS. 11 for 25.
Keith, 2008-04-24 23:42:34

DINO , Are you kidding me? I'm at a loss for words.....The team belongs to Montreal , they pay millions to play there. The owner would lose millions ...........are you stupid? Its not even an option.
