Can the Leafs reel in the last playoff spot?
Sat, March 22, 2008

The Leafs lose the easy ones but win the tough ones.

After shedding three players at the NHL trade deadline, the Leafs have 20 games to close the gap on 8th place in the East, but will need some help.

Can the Leafs perform the improbable and reel in a playoff spot?

Ron-> That's probably a good assessment. A couple more years of futility with younger players and some good draft picks, then hopefully they'll be on their way to start contending (if the management does things right this time).

The Laffs will reel in a playoff spot in the year 2010/11. Not before.

Sir knows it all, I was reading a comment you posted on the 29th of March where by you state and I quote "But this is it. You can post your idiotic insults until Hell freezes over. I won't respond to any more, and I seriously suggest to all others who don't mind a good argument and differences of opinion to follow suit - i.e., simply ignore you." Yet here you are on the 2nd of April calling me names and beratting me for what? Letting you know that because you spew something, doesn't make it so. George with all the knowledge you have, one must ask oneself why isn't George a GM or coach in the NHL? Us mere mortals wait at our computer screens with baited breath waiting to see what words of wisdom the grand poobah of hockey has to offer. Get off your high hobby horse old man. P.S. if you make a line in the sand, try to stand by it. Five days, your too easy.

Sir Knows It All, when I have I been wrong. If I was where did I make an excuse, extenuating or otherwise. Here is a prediction for ya. Montreal out first round.

George, you are wrong yet again. I have never uttered the word buffoon. You even went so far as to use quotations. Secondly, when I refer to you as an idiot or moron or most fondly, clown, they are not adjectives they are nouns. George, given your age and most likely lack of education and senility, I will refrain from using any further unsavory NOUNS. From now on you shall be known simply as "Sir Know It All"

Is all the fighting really necessary? I mean really, the only Canadian team that really has a shot this year is Montreal. Edmonton would have made noise but sadly they just ran out of games. The wheels have come off of the Sens wagon, Calgary was extremely fortunate in beating Edmonton last night and the Canucks should be called the Vancouver Luongos. Just wait until next year, the Oilers were just getting started the last 2 months. They'll be good next year but within a couple of years they'll be a force. Wait and see.

You haven't been paying attention. I am a Habs fan. Have been since the late 1940s as I've stated on several occasions.

Check back. Every time someone said something that turned out to be wrong, or even slightly off course, your response invariably included the epithets "clown" or "moron" or "idiot" or "buffoon" (you really should invest in a good Roget's Thesaurus - there are SO many more adjectives you are missing).

Ahh, but when YOU'RE wrong there are always extenuating circumstances, or you strive to change the subject by reverting back to something that had been put to rest weeks before. Always with the "clown" or "moron" or "idiot" or "buffoon" thrown in as if this is needed to emphasize your point.

Try engaging in a normal discourse by stating your views as you see them (not everyone will agree with you, but that's life). You'd be surprised at the exchange of information, views and ideas that will ensue.

George, it makes me disappointed. Much the same feeling you shall experience if your beloved Sens don't start winning.
Pete, 2008-04-02 11:13:32

"Last but not least, when the Oilers make the playoffs, I told you so. Clown"

So, what does that make your Pete?
George O'Leary, 2008-04-02 07:48:44

George, you never cease to amaze me. veiled threat? What are you talking about. I was alluding to the youth detention centre that I mentioned on the last string. And all along I thought you where the George O'Leary, University of Central Florida Football coach. Also alluded to on a previous comment. You sir need to get out a little more and away from the computer, a little paranoid I presume. Last but not least, when the Oilers make the playoffs, I told you so. Clown
