Will anyone take Ray Emery?
Fri, June 20, 2008

The Senators are saying goodbye to goaltender Ray Emery.

In the wake of several incidents involving both the team and member of the public over the past couple of seasons, Emery has been served with a buyout notice by the club and has been placed on NHL waivers.

He belongs in The Jules Verne League, you know, 20,000 leagues below the NHL.

Who cares Ottawa sucks.

the leafs. a guy who tries to run people down on the Highway and starts fights with team members should go to a city that deserves him.

I like Mike.

Thanks for the clarification on "RAY'S WAYS". I did not intend to insult construction workers. They have to show up on the job at 7:00 am in every type of weather summer heat to the icy cold sub-zero weather in winter. Ray could not handle that either since he's late for an 11 am practice indoors in a climate controlled environment.

Security guards must also be responsible. The guy who cleans the toilets and empties the thrash cans would be a perfect fit for Ray.

Probably, all GMs like a project and he will certainly be one. I cannot understand why someone who works so hard to get to the professional level was throw it all away, remember Ray, there are hundreds of young men who would jump at the chances you've had.

I think Mr. Emery has to take a good reflective look at himself (as we all do) and change his ways.

Los Angeles is pretty weak in goal, so I could see them offering something like $1m plus bonuses to Emery for a one-year contract.

Ray dug his own grave. May have gotten away with being an arrogant Bling Boy in a sport that would have pampered the little egotistical kid..(B.B.)

He'll get one more chance....in some city..just to see if he has any talent left.

I'll bet he has to go to the minors to make a living and you will never hear of him again!

Maybe he'll end up working in a Detroit car plant.

Had the world on his plate, yet had to put the A into a**hole.

Who cares? Emery made an ass of himself after becoming the Senators starting goaltender. The fans seemed to like him up until he became a starter, then he became a legend in his own mind and started acting like so many other spoiled athletes. It would look good if he wallowed in the minors for a year or two then dropped out of hockey for good. I have no sympathy for athletes like him when there are so many other grateful ones around.

Emery is a minor league goalie at best. He might win a backup netminder position in the AHL. What a class A goof.

Once more, that last post with this nick wasn't mine - and no, I am not "George O'Leary" despite the repeated suggestions from some anal retentive twit that I am.

As for Emery, of course someone will give him a shot as a UFA - but it will be on a two-way contract and at considerably less than he will be making from the buyout.

Which means he will have to demonstrate some work ethic and a desire to make his way back as a # 1 goalie while at the same time making more money than most ordinary people.
