The Senators are saying goodbye to goaltender Ray Emery.
In the wake of several incidents involving both the team and member of the public over the past couple of seasons, Emery has been served with a buyout notice by the club and has been placed on NHL waivers.

Emery is a young kid. His head got big with all the attention. This has been rough on him. He'll bounce back. Lots of teams will fight to pick him up. Hopefully he can refocus and become the Starting Goalie he was in Ottawa 2 years ago.
BTW - I'm a Leafs Fan giving him props! lol

Peter, did you not get the memo that your Leafs suck more than the Sens, no matter how many times you make fun of them? Aside from his personal deficiencies as a teammate, Emery could beat the heck out of any and every player on the Leafs twice, but the lack of a need for enforcer goalies and his inability to turn it off with his own teammates is what got him a ticket out of town.

Emery is a cancer in the dressing room with his I am bigger than the team attitude. His problems caused a rift in the dressing room, if you were a Sen would you think all them incidents are ok just because he was the starting goalie ? There are alot of players that are glad he is gone.
The Sens are alot better off with someone like him, and if he signs with another team he will be kept on a very short leash and 1 incident he will be on the next plane out of that city and he will be done for good. If he gets a second chance and I think he will, his contract will be low in base salary with lots of bonusues for games played, wins etc.
Ottawa is already a better and closer team now that the problem child is gone.

evilJaze: If any of us who work for a living behaved like talented Ray, how long would your employer keep you? Talent makes a job or life easier for the person. However, a good work ethic will make anyone shine. Emery is simply a K-9 seducing, useless attitude problem with no self discipline. Makes him a perfect Maple Leaf, Ron!

Sorry, but Emery took the blame for the teams brutal year. The problem with Ottawa is Murray not Emery. I doubt Murray will ever get a GM job after this, who in the hell would want him. And then he fires Paddock, to save his own butt and goes behind the bench, lol. Emery might of stepped on a few toes, but I think some team will give him a chance, he still is amongst the top third of the goalies in the league. And for Murray, we will see how much other GM's think of him, and if someone chooses to sign Emery... Maybe Eugene likes him and could make him a salesman for Biovail, or whatever

Ray is a very talented goalie. You can't deny what he is capable of when he wants to be. I think this 'life lesson' will be a good kick in the butt for him and hopefully he'll concentrate on being number 1 again. Albeit for a different team.
Which one? It's anyone's guess. We'll see July 1 I suppose.

He will be picked up by some club that figures they can change his ways and bring the #1 goalie back out.
What SHOULD happen with this league and professional athletes in general is to have basic contracts with incentives for team performance and then individual performance.
Teams should also have the option to get rid of a bum that just isn't working out for the team. That way all the spoiled brats will learn to adopt the hard-working attitude of the "construction worker" or the "security guard" that actually pays the bum's salary.
