What's your reaction to NHL trade deadline day?
Mon, February 25, 2008

Aside from a December deal that saw Anaheim move Andy McDonald to St. Louis for Doug Weight in a salary-cap related move, the four-player transaction between the Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes mercifully gave hockey fans a trade that actually had some serious news value.

The question is, will Monday's deal kickstart more moves between now and the Feb. 26 trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

Will the NHL trade deadline be very busy?

What is going on in some of these players' heads? Why would these boneheads like Kaberle and Sundin choose to remain on a last place team which will never contend during their careers. If I'm stuck on a team going no-where year after year I'd jump at the chance to go to a contender.

I guess it proves one thing once and for all: loyalty to Toronto makes little sense.

what that tells me about kaberle and sundin is that they dont want a cup, it's odd that sundin doesn't understand the fact that he will be retired by the time the leafs make playoff's, athey can't rebuild unless he and kaberle get traded.

i think it will be busy. i am baffled buy some of these players re kaberle. they traded him to philly for jeff carter and he uses his no trade.hmmmm if i was kaberle would this not tell you that they dont want you they want to trade you so why would you want to stay with someone that doesnt want you..baffled...

Pete, what I ment was the GM is looking to put Sundin somewhere, I know that Sundin would like to stay in toronto.

Not sure how many trades we can look forward to - I said elsewhere that there might be a dozen - but one thing is certain, if you believe the ubiquitous "sources say" there should be 50 or so.

That sound a lot like "I heard from a guy who heard from a guy whose cousin's girlfriend told him ...."

Perhaps you haven't been paying attention RJ, but Sundin has NOT been "looking to go someware's" (sic).

I just don't want Lowe to move any young guys. He can move Stoll, Staios or Roloson(if anyone will take his 3 million in salary) but the Oilers have a good core of young guys and need to build on that. Don't be stupid Lowe, the playoffs are not in the cards this year so look towards next year.

If you guys haven't noticed, Alot of p[layers are looking to go someware's (Sundin, Hossa, Jokinin possobly). It will be intresting. There also be a few unexpected moves, just look at the Smyth deal and the Forsberg one, it will be intresting.

Hilarious hockey article on:

Cracked me up anyway.

It's been quiet so far, but expect things to heat up after this Monday (the 18th). This is when Forsberg will decide if he is able to play this year. If he isn't, it sure makes Mats Sundin a lot more interesting for some teams in contention.
