Are the Sens better with Stillman and Commodore?
Mon, February 11, 2008

The Ottawa Senators have shaken things up.

Ottawa acquired forward Cory Stillman and defenceman Mike Commodore from the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday for forward Patrick Eaves and defenceman Joe Corvo.

The Senators lead the Eastern Conference and have made very few changes from the team that lost to Anaheim in last year's Stanley Cup.

Does this deal address problems in the Senators lineup? Are the Sens a better team following the four-player trade? Have your say in our forum.

Sens pull off a big deal

Not a big trade but the LEAFS getting rid of WADE BELAK for a 5th round pick is pure garbage. Who is going to pick up for MATTI et all now? All this is about the appearance of the LEAFS doing something at trade time, well a 5th round pick wow thats the ticket! WADE fough all comers, played forward and defence and given a chance could have been a third or fourth liner easily. AGAIN the LEAFS blow another one he was making less than 700K so not a cap room trade. Maybe MATTI will have to fend for himself now..a very stupid trade!

You couldn't hurt my feelings with a 2x4. As for being a know-it-all, well, to resort to an old but accurate saying "it takes one to know one." Check back on your own posts and tell me exactly where what YOU say is concrete fact whereas all those you dump on are "ignoramuses."

And while you're at it, get off the McGrattan-Neil thing - you've made your point - now only time will tell. You sound like a broken record by latching onto one subject and beating it to death.

And to think, looking back, I first regarded you as something of a wit. Now, alas, I realize I was only half-right.

John Paddock needs to be FIRED. Mark my words, if this team doesn't turn it around fast, Paddock will be out and Murray will be back behind the bench.

The Sens are far too talented to play this embarrassingly bad. If Paddock can't get it done with these guys, he needs to be gone before the season is lost.

Hey you know that crow doesn't taste that bad....a little gamey but....

L'il puke pots a couple.

In the stock market, we call it a dead cat bounce.

In hockey, we say ...it's only february....whatcha gonna do in april, may , june ?

The buds will be golfing...that we do know

George, how is your boy McGrattan the hockey player making out with all that ice time now that Neil is out with injury? Just wondering as you seem to know everything and us mere mortals, well we don't have all that fancy book learnin.

George, poor George, did I hurt your feelings. I'm sorry. I didn't know you were monitoring my spelling. Good come back Jack Ass. Did I spell that correctly. You're a clown buddy. Pompous Ass.

Norbit, just a hunch. He hails from Edmonton. The Oilers tried to get him last fall but he wouldn't waive his no trade clause. We'll have to wait out and see, who knows, it's not like Lowe has made bad moves in the past...tounge in cheek.

Pete

Just curious as to why you think Redden will be going to Edmonton. The only problem with Edmontons D is inexperience(asides from Souray). Asides from that, they are have some pretty talented young D-men in Gilbert, Roy, Grebeshkov and Roarke(currently in the minors). Just wondering why you think they would sully an up and coming core with an underperformer like Redden.
Norbit, 2008-02-25 15:47:42

How dare Tucker not allow himself to be traded.

Does he not realize that Leaf Nation is sick of him? Does he not realize that he is considered one of Ferguson's biggest mistakes?

12 goals...half of them bounced in off of his butt. yikes what a stiff.

Ahhh the ego of someone who is a legend in his own mind.
Gustav, 2008-02-25 13:35:31

Nice to see a reasoned response Dave, and I agree with your observation on the D. I may be wrong (and I'm sure Pete will set me straight if I am), but it has looked to me all season long that Paddock and his staff have been focusing more on a wide-open attack with much less emphasis on D and forwards coming back, than did Murray.

I'm not suggesting they should go back to the smothering type of D employed by Martin, but there has to be more attention paid to helping out the D than has been the case to date.
