Don was a Master of his Domain and will be truly missed, God Speed Don; we will miss you.

One of my favourite memories of Don was back in the 80s when he was calling a BC Lions Game. I can't remember who he they were playing, but I remember Larry Key was the Running back for the Lions. The ball was given to Larry Key and Witt excaimed, "there's Key, looking for a hole." I don't think anyone caught the inadvertent pun, but it sure made me laugh. He just seemed like a nice guy. I'll miss his voice.

I was saddened to read a few weeks ago that Don was sick. I looked forward to seeing Don at Briers...he was a big part of what made the Brier such a special Canadian event. A new voice will obviously assume his place, but it will never be the same.

God bless.

Don Wittman was one of those guys in TV sports broadcasting that we grew up listening to when coverage was more regionally staged. For CBC in western Canada, Don was the voice. We took him for granted probably until about 20 years ago when CBC unabashedly cut back his assignments, unjustly or otherwise. But even still, whenever I heard his voice on TV, no matter the sport or whatever else I had on the go, I'd still sit down just for awhile, to hear his setups, his tones and particularly his heat of the moment inflections. He knew how better than most and no one eclipses that.

Don was Canadiana!

He will be missed but not forgotten as he spoke for the country when we all were watching. Thanks Don for saying what we were thinking.

Your family is PROUD.

Don's passing is a great loss for Canada...I love watching track and field and Don's enthusiasm was heartfelt...his call of the Atlanta Olympic's men's 4X100 relay final was capped by his perfect line "you gotta love Saturday nights in Georgia", after Donovan Bailey and his mates "smoked" the competition to win the gold....God bless you Don , and your family...

Don was - by far - the most outstanding sportscaster I am aware of. He was so talented he could have made a game of tiddledy winks sound exciting! With his great diction, grammar and pronunciation skills, he could have been a model for many of the current and past news anchors and reporters. I'd hope they all might look at past tapes of Don's work and take some serious lessons from them. Another great personality gone!

Our family had the pleasure of meeting Don Wittman during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea when I was employed with the Canadian Embassy. Our condolences to his family and friends at CBC Sports. He will be deeply missed by all fans in Curling, Swimming, HNIC and the CFL.
