Chris Simon has received the longest suspension in NHL history - again.
The New York Islanders forward was banned 30 games by league disciplinarian Colin Campbell after Simon stepped on Pittsburgh's Jarkko Ruutu during a game over the weekend.
What do you think should happen to him? Have your say in our forum.
Simon banned for 30 games
This guy is a criminal on skates. He should be gone for life. The NHL still doesn't get it.
He was not fighting, he was assaulting. His act had nothing to do with a hockey play. He is a habitual offender at assaults (7 time repeat offender).
The other criminals on skates in his class are Donald Brashear and Georges Laraque. They cannot even be classified as hockey players. They just run around on the ice helter-skelter like and maul people. There is no room for them in a skilled League such as the NHL.

Your comment would have some credibility if Simon's coach wasn't from First Nations, but he is. And he (Ted Nolan) would never condone what Simon did. Secondly, look at another First Nations player, Jordin Tootoo --- he plays a rough style, but the league has never suspended HIM for 30 games. In fact, he is well liked around the league and by fans. Why is that? Because he is not a cheap shot artist and repeat offender like Simon is. He deserves more than "a couple of games". This is coming from a visible minority myself

In both cases he is very lucky neither player was seriously injured. In this latest incident Simons skate blade could have cut through Ruutu's muscle and tendons with very little force.
