Does Ramage deserve a prison sentence?
Thu, January 17, 2008

Former NHL player Rob Ramage was called an "exemplary citizen" Thursday, but an Ontario judge said he had to send a message of deterrence against drunk driving as he sent him to prison for four years for a crash that killed his friend, a former Chicago Blackhawks player.

Do you think Ramage got what he deserved? Have your say in our forum.

Jimmy your village called and there looking for you. Again, is this american or canadian law this time. I'll bet you he gets no more than five years. I'm only guessing as you stated vick would get five and he got less than two. So, if you say Ramage will get 10 he's sure to get less than five. Stick to Medicine Jimmy, law is not your thing.

Yes he should go to prison for at least 10 years.

There is no excuse for drinking and driving except stupidity.

They need to start making examples of celebrities. Just because they have money doesnt mean they are above the law. It shouldnt matter if the intent was there or not, its the end result that counts, a death.

Oh yes...go straight to jail card please! I lost my daughter to the recklessness of an impaired driver. He was convicted of impaired driving causing death. All the s.o.b. got was 2 years less a day. Not in jail mind you...house arrest and allowed to go to work. If I met him on the street now, I would send him to the happy-hunting-gounds at warp speed.

So yes, send him to jail.

The actions of Mr. Ramage sent another human-being to their premature grave. We have laws in place within our society that deal with situations like these. They MUST be followed irregardless of the wishes of the victimized family. What if their wishes were that of corporal punishment?...an eye for an eye?...should THOSE wishes be considered as well?...where does the justice-system draw the line? Our laws are quite clear; Ramage MUST be accountable and serve his time.

Of coures he should go to jail. If that happened to you or I, would we go?

Sure we would. Give him the same treatment.

some of you people are missing the point - jail a deterrant - believe it or not most of us don't want to go there so we don't drive blind drunk like Ramage did. If he gets off scot free , more people will drink and drive - is that what you really want, to be crushed to death by some lazy jackass having a good time.

Andy

Drive safely and sober, especially over the christmas season. And everyone else too.

He should get what a person who is not famous would get. And then send him on the road to get the message out after his jail term is served. How does it look if he kills someone and then all he has to do is go on tour and talk about it. Probably over some beers.

I think that there is definately jail time to be served as he is not above the law being an ex sportsman...I think leafs have also prolonged our sentence as fans with a poor excuse as a respondsible sports franchise!

What good is it now to send Mr. Ramage to jail. Do you people not think he has suffered enough. I bet each and every person who has made comments here HAS at one time or another had a couple of drinks and taken the wheel. You have been lucky not to run into someone. The man has paid his dues as far as I'm concerned. He is not some addict who will get behind the wheel tomorrow and drink and drive again. Leave him be, the family has the last say now.
