Are MLB players telling the truth? Wed, February 13, 2008
Brian McNamee said he injected Roger Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs more often than he previously claimed, starting their high-stakes testimony before U.S. Congress on Wednesday with new attacks on the credibility of the seven-time Cy Young Award winner.
"I have helped taint our national pastime," McNamee, the pitcher's former personal trainer, said in his prepared statement, released before the start of the highly anticipated hearing.
Clemens has denied the accusations that became public in December's Mitchell Report.
Do you believe Clemens and other players when they say they did not inject themselves with performance-enhancing drugs? Have your say in our forum.
Selig's bosses, the owners, are the real people to blame. They knew this was going on and didn't do anything.

If Selig had a chance to do this internally and didn't, more power to him. This needed to be brought out into the open and he did it. Should he be fired, no for the first time he acted in a positive vein. There's no place in any sport for illegal substances and hopefully this is the start of cleaning up the best game in town

It's about the money folks! Players are payed millions to perform. Owners make millions when they do!

As with just about everything in our society, money talks very loudly. If, after having its nose rubbed in the dirt with a massive drug scandal, major league baseball continues to enjoy ever-increasing record attendance and popularity, it won't really care too much, though it won't say so publicly of course. Only by fans withdrawing support for the cheats and hitting them in their pocketbooks in a major way will anything really improve. Take away their money, stop the cash flow and watch them scramble.
If on the other the fans who complain about the rampant drug cheating are the same ones who continue, however grudgingly, to support this crooked business, they forfeit their right to complain. They can simply go on paying and taking what they get. For what it's worth, I'll pass, thank you.
Does anyone really think that any of these revelations came as a total shock to Bud Selig? If so, look up the word 'naive' in the dictionary. Your photo will be right there beside it.
A game I've always liked better than any other, bar none, has been ruined by money, greed and cheaters.
Damn them all.

I am surprised that david eckstein is a Jay. We have a shortstop. I can't wait to see how he plays in this city.

Mr. Selig had a chance to do this internally but instead he opened MLB's closet for the entire world to see. Either his PR skills are non-existent or he's gone completely mad. If he doesn't quit then he should be fired.

if you cant do the job quit before getting fired.
now if your a "canadian" you really see the americana bs this man brings to "his" audience

Baseball--who really cares anymore. They hide there head in the sand while they profess how great they are. Just like the mushroom farmer--keep em in the dark and cover them with sh--.

My reaction? Well it's not bewilderment.

This is what we waited for? 18 months worth of media hype for "declined to comment" when players were asked to participate. This is why Mitchell has asked MLB not to discipline any of the players named in his report.....bunch of bull if you ask me.
If you ask me....Bonds may have done a tonne of steriods and denied it....but Paul Lo Duca is responsible for numerous players starting taking them....suspend him for Life!
I would like to see all active players' teams release these players and baseball black ball them all.
