Are MLB players telling the truth? Wed, February 13, 2008
Brian McNamee said he injected Roger Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs more often than he previously claimed, starting their high-stakes testimony before U.S. Congress on Wednesday with new attacks on the credibility of the seven-time Cy Young Award winner.
"I have helped taint our national pastime," McNamee, the pitcher's former personal trainer, said in his prepared statement, released before the start of the highly anticipated hearing.
Clemens has denied the accusations that became public in December's Mitchell Report.
Do you believe Clemens and other players when they say they did not inject themselves with performance-enhancing drugs? Have your say in our forum.
You would probably clear out a lot of athletes in all sports. Benches would be pretty lonely

Get em out of there!!!! and get rid of all those bleepin cheaters....

Let's look at the big picture here - Steroids are illegal in the US and Canada. Why has NO Player EVER gone to prison for Steroid use? They buy it, they inject it! They are clearly breaking a FEDERAL law! Michael Vick spends money on Dog Fighting and we're all up in arms about that, yet I bet not one of these players will do any time in prison.
Why do our governments allow these "Businesses" to have Drug rehab programs for their Employees without first having to be charged with a crime that any of US would get crusified for? It's time for the BS to end! Money talks. It's sooooo obvious!

Bud Selig’s inept reign as MLB Commish is like making the mathematically challenged Village Idiot in charge of a Vegas Casino! He has been nothing but a complete incompetent failure! However the MLB Players Association must also take blame. They have been lead by Donald Fuhr who has acted like a dictator of stubborn denial over the whole sad sordid affair. MLB needs a tough no-nonsense Commish with supreme power to come in ala Roger Goodall of the NFL and clean up the whole mess.

I think any reason to get rid of Selig is a good one. While he's leaving he should take Bettman with him. Both of these guys have overseen some of the most turbulent times in their sport and had very little foresight in which to avoid these circumstances.

Why should he quit? The Owners all knew what was going on and the only thing that was important to them was puting fannies in the seats.I'm no big supporter of Bud,but at least he DID SOMETHING!As for any Politian calling for him to resign,I suggest they ALL look in the mirror because if that isn't calling
the pot calling the kettle black!!

Gordon
Baseball is actually the only sport that is legislated. It is truely the US national sport.
All other sports are just pastimes as far as the law goes in the US. That is why congress gets inolved for just baseball.

I don't understand why the US Congress is involved in this baseball drug "scandal".
Isn't it just a baseball issue and should be dealt with by baseball?

Selig should resign. But before he does he should fire everyone of the cheating players involved. He should resign for looking the other way for years. These people are supposed to be role models? Yeah right role models for liars and cheaters in denial. Hard work means nothing if you cheat. Especially when you get caught. I have heard steroids can increase the risk of brain cancer and testicular shrinkage and other plumbing problems? I bet their families are not too proud of their actions. Hows about the hall of shame awards next year? It's cowards that can't face life head on. Just more overpaid and now over weight players that couldn't cope with making millions of dollars. Are you ashamed yet or are you still in denial? Bye BUD?
