Should the Sens be worried? Thu, November 29, 2007
How low are things for the reeling Ottawa Senators? They are mired in their longest losing streak since dropping five in a row (0-4-1) in late October and early November last season.
So, what's wrong with the Senators? Is it their forward lines? Goaltending? Defence? Bad luck?
I think the Senators biggest "worry" should be that while they may have the best line in hockey, it shouldn't be confused with the best team in hockey. As long as Alfredsson, Heatley, and Spezza are healthy, they should be able to get by, and they do have a good supporting cast as far as defense and grit is concerned... but another goalscorer is a must if they are going to anywhere in the playoffs. If another team shuts down the top line (i.e. Anaheim last year, which is the model most teams are following defensively right now), the Sens are sunk. Paddock has tried to split them up to spread out the offense, but always finds himself putting them back together because it's the only thing that works. They need to pick a goalie and trade the other to get a second line scorer.

Why the change in goalie? We were doing just fine with Gerber.
