Would Avery be a good fit for the Rangers?
Sat, February 7, 2009

BRUCE GARRIOCH, SUN MEDIA

Sean Avery's road back to the NHL has officially started.

The suspended Dallas Stars winger was placed on waivers today, which means he's ready to play after undergoing counselling, following comments he made earlier this season in Calgary.

If nobody claims him he will clear Monday at noon. The belief is the New York Rangers have discussed the possiblity of bringing in Avery at half-price. He still has three-years, $12 million remaining on his contract.

Would Avery be a good fit with the Rangers? Have your say in our forum.

good riddance to a useless player. have fun riding the buses. Every player who respects the game hopes they never see your idiotic face again. You were and are an disgrace to anyone who has ever played the game

Avery must have truly endeared himself to his teammates to be cut loose like this.

It seems that this latest comment was the icing on the cake.

If he's to continue somewhere in the NHL, he'll have to grow up and shut up.

As for his hockey, he's not a bad player...

Too bad - so sad.

He is a lose cannon with little respect for people and himself.

Putting him on the street would be disrespectful of street people who have their own code of respect.

However, get him out of the game.

Why do we always want to lower the bar instead of raise it? Our children look up to these star athletes. They should conduct themselves in a professional manner and represent their teams in a positive way. He is an embarassment to his team, the NHL and the "good old hockey game". He is finally getting what he deserves.

Line? What Line?
Vince in Ottawa, 2008-12-12 02:23:27

He's not a bad Hockey Player. Actually he's quite talented and can actually play good hockey when he wants to. However he is also a punk. There are certain players ( I won't mention any names) that make a living by setting these people straight one way or another.

Where is Tie Domi when you need him?
A hockey Fan, 2008-12-09 10:56:44

Who cares !!!!!!!

Let the guy play Hockey...what does a stupid comment have to do with Hockey? I find it funny. Maybe the Stars are looking for a way to get rid of him because they can't afford him anymore, so this is an excuse to try and do it...Shame on these idiots that have nothing to do. Keep up the good work Sean...Hockey needs guys like you! And the NHL commissioner??!! TALK ABOUT AND "IDIOT".

What is happening to Hockey, that we worry about this?
Eduardo Echeverria, 2008-12-08 21:34:39

JT, you're an idiot.

Avery crosses the line all the time and the reaction he got was the one he wanted. The only difference is that this time he didn't save his zinger for on the ice and spit it out in front of a mike. He probably does this every game, a player takes a swing at him and there is a scuffle leading to a power play. If he took Phaneuf off for two minutes and agitated him for the rest of the game, then mission accomplished.

This is what pests do. Avery is just a bit stupider than he should be.

Let them play, but if the other players get their elbows up a bit in the corners on Avery, let the linesmen put the whistles away. Old fashioned hockey sometimes has it's place in taking care of idiots like Avery.

I thought it was a hillarious line! Elisha Cuthbert is a dirty girl who's career has been on the decline for years. She should thank Sean for putting her name back in the news!

WEREGLAD they backed off from that'which by the way could start to become a common theme in his future if he doesn't pullup.after all this starts to fade away.I wonder which way he choose's to deal with what lies ahead for him.ALL KIDDING ASIDE HE'S NOT A BAD HOCKEY PLAYER..
