Would Avery be a good fit for the Rangers?
Sat, February 7, 2009

BRUCE GARRIOCH, SUN MEDIA

Sean Avery's road back to the NHL has officially started.

The suspended Dallas Stars winger was placed on waivers today, which means he's ready to play after undergoing counselling, following comments he made earlier this season in Calgary.

If nobody claims him he will clear Monday at noon. The belief is the New York Rangers have discussed the possiblity of bringing in Avery at half-price. He still has three-years, $12 million remaining on his contract.

Would Avery be a good fit with the Rangers? Have your say in our forum.

avery is a loser.always has been, always will be and only a sad-sack organization like the Rangers would want him. even the Kings didn't want him! typical of an organization that won it's last Stanley Cup by basically re-assembling the Edmonton Oilers. oh Slats, whats become of you?

Tucker likes to run his mouth. Rarely drops the gloves. Avery on the other hand can chirp, drop the gloves, oh and he can play a decent game of hockey. Tucker is a plug and always will be a plug.

Funny how blake was right there and never heard any comment but skinny little 140 lb mouthpiece tucker heard something.. just tucker trying to start crap again..that plug will never change....

There is no room in any professional sports for behaviour like Avery's...play the damn game and get over yourself...

I like real hockey plain and simple - with good passing and great shots.

This nonsense doesn't add anything positive to the game.

Tom Veil: Avery is not dating Elisha Cuthbert anymore. In fact, in true Avery style, he dumped her and brags about how he messed up her life. He's now dating one of the Olson twins.

Avery is typical rangers trash

Avery is a paid mouthpiece. He does what he does well, it's too bad others (players) aren't able to ignore his immature diatribes. However, fighting IS a part of hockey, so the two sides who need to tangle are doing so perhaps not officially as part of a contractual obligation, but to indirectly contribute to the financial bottom line of their teams (and league) by appealing to those fans who expect callous and disrespectful player participants. How ironic -- the poor shmucks who dole out a weeks pay to go see a professional athlete earn in several minutes what it takes the average Joe a year to clear! So what can they expect? Fighting and trash talking, just like at work and home, right? Professionals? Of course...

He is dating Elisha Cuthbert and for that reason alone I hate his guts.
Tom Veil, 2007-11-13 21:50:42

Of course Avery has crossed the line. There is no room in professional hockey for that kind of immature garbage. He's paid, and paid a lot, to play hockey, not mouth off like some schoolyard brat. The man is a disgrace to the game. Period.
