Would Avery be a good fit for the Rangers?
Sat, February 7, 2009

BRUCE GARRIOCH, SUN MEDIA

Sean Avery's road back to the NHL has officially started.

The suspended Dallas Stars winger was placed on waivers today, which means he's ready to play after undergoing counselling, following comments he made earlier this season in Calgary.

If nobody claims him he will clear Monday at noon. The belief is the New York Rangers have discussed the possiblity of bringing in Avery at half-price. He still has three-years, $12 million remaining on his contract.

Would Avery be a good fit with the Rangers? Have your say in our forum.

Gordon W: OH MY GOD.... I hope you're wrong on that one! Avery in Toronto would be the biggest circus in hockey history. Imagine him upping his antics by about 1000% and us being forced to hear about it 24-7. It's a scary thought and I hope Burke isn't THAT stupid.

I hope Avery isn't too surprised when he eventually finds himself blacklisted. If I was running a team I wouldn't touch this guy. He makes me ashamed to call myself a hockey fan.

Avery should be forced to fight phaneuf and when he gets pounded by Dion, one of the Stars players should throw a few at him while all the players on both teams stand back and applaud "hockey justice".
Andrew Shydlowsky, 2008-12-02 19:24:33

Children are fans of this sport...look up to players...we have become a society of idiots to accept this kind of talk from anybody!
Jon, 2008-12-02 19:21:58

Avery will be sent packing by the Stars, being one of the biggest mistakes a team has made. Guess who will probably pick him up??...Burke, his twin in the management sector in the NHL...
Gordon W., 2008-12-02 19:20:22

Avery's a jerk, although a rich jerk. If Phaneuf gets him, he'll probably kill him.

But Elisha Cuthbert ??? Not too many who would mind those sloppy seconds.

Is that the best you can do?

I DO actually lift weights, I DO excerise daily, and I TRAIN daily. I just don't like golf. And YES golfers should be tested for performance enchancing drugs like any other sports. Oh yes I actually can hit a golf ball over a hundread yards with a driver. I happen to go to the driving range and hit a few balls around. Great way to build up a sweat. I also like to watch NASCAR racing as well.

Your only doing this to see other people's reaction, to get a cheap thrill out of this and to see whom ever responds to you. You should eat some "Doug Flutie Flakes" and serious think about what you say or type before doing it. You might actually get somewhere.

((Then again by responding to this I'm only adding more fuel to the fire so am I am to blame on this? Probally, but oh well.))

I was actually expecting some sort of sports related comback since this is a SPORTS thread. So lets talk about sports, wrestling entertaiment and Mixed Martial Arts fighting etc.

So can we dropped this chidish game Pete and act like actualy sports fans here?

So how those Detroit Redwings. Damn they lost last night. can't win them all. Detorit in 7 by the way

a hockey clown

you only say golf sucks because you cant hit the ball farther than 100 yards and thats with a driver. try eating wheaties and lift some weights once in a while wimp.

Well your right I can't recall a fine in the NHL but that was talked about. Don cheery and Ron Mclean have name numerous occurances about players hitting other players with sticks.

However stiff pealinties.. 2 minuts for high sticking, spearing extra 2 minutes for sevevere fractions witch includes if the other player is bleeding and a possible game misconduct

There was an AHL game to where I was at that game to when a Mantobia Moose player suffered a 5 game suspection for retalition in which he litually wacked the Hamlimton Bulldog player with his hockey stick by swinning it like a baseball bat hitting the bulldog player on his right side just hitting the bottom rib cage and suffered a fine of $3500. Other charges were dropped however. The souce was on radio CJOB Sports radio post game wrap up.

However for the lightweight part. Settle down man it's a Sports chat. theres no trophies for best post ever.

Oh by the way I hate Bowling, cards bored me and Golf sucks.

And so does your opinion. Get a life, he never touched anyone with his stick. I implore you to find me one example of a situation where the Stiff fines and penalties where dished out in the past. Later light weight.
