Has Toskala silenced the goalie controversy?
Mon, November 5, 2007

For the first time since August, you won't hear about a Maple Leafs goaltending controversy in Toronto.

Vesa Toskala has closed the debate with a six-game run that ended Saturday night with a 32-save, 3-2 win in Montreal.

Has Toskala silenced the starting goalie debate in Toronto? Have your say in our forum.

Seems like Raycroft silenced the controversy for him

Toskala is a decent goalie, but the Maple Leafs need to clear the rebounds.

No goalie is going to have a good GAA if the defence don't clear the rebounds.

Is Maurice on Drugs??

Raycroft has 15 saves in the first, 30 in total in a shutout on the road and he comes back at home with Toskela? Where is the logic in his decisions? HNIC just said that he is playing Toskela due to past performances against the Rangers, but past performances do not dictate future successes. What did #35 do after the so called GREAT game he played against the Rangers?

The leafs will never be a playoff team without a clear conscience, mind and gut instinct from they're so called leader at the highest level.

Toskala has silenced the starting goalie debate in Toronto? I certainly hope not!

This is too much fun for the rest of us. Hey, maybe the Leafs can beg the NHL Brass to have them play more league games against the Bragging Oilers. This way we can really see which one of them really sucks the most!

Oh, clever manipulation of letters there Fah Kinright. Yuk yuk. You just got to love it when submitters don't have the stones to use their own names.

What goalie contoversy? Is one of our goalies wearing a black mask? Both Toskala and Raycroft are good enough goalies to carry a team deep into the playoffs. The unfortunate thing for both of them is there is no team in front of them to get them to the playoffs.
Fah Kinright, 2007-11-09 13:08:21

They should concentate on their defensive controversy first.

How can you tell how good either goalie is playing behind that?
Trev, 2007-11-08 17:03:46

I think Toskala has shown enough to be the # 1 goalie. He has played well, he can only hold his team in a game for so long. We all know the Make Me Laffs cant win the 2 - 1 or 3 - 2 games on a regular basis because of there terrible play in there own end.

He is probably wondering what he got himself into being in Toronto now and wishing he was back in San Jose LOL.

Of course there's a new goaltending controversy! Here it is given the play of the two Leafs goalies, shouldn't we play all game with the net empty and an extra skater?

Rick W- Your comment about "The Leafs of the '80s stank even more, but at least the fans went home applauding the grit and workmanlike effort of some of their favourite players in a losing cause" is true.

Back then the leafs were in the lowly Snorris division and a sub-par season still made the playoffs. Unforutately TO fans wil pay anthing to see thier leafs and lately all indications point to a short season. Get some real management in there who will build a franchise that will meet the expectations of thier loyal fans.
