What effect will the NFL have in Toronto?
Tue, April 15, 2008

The Buffalo Bills are coming to Toronto.

The NFL has reached an agreement with the Bills that will allow them to play eight games -- five regular-season contests and three exhibitions -- in Toronto over the next five years.

Will games north of the border have any effect on the CFL? Would you go to an NFL game in Canada? Have your say in our forum.

A foothold in Toronto

Earth to Toronto NFL supportes! The No Fun League is NOT coming to Toronto. There isn't even a team in Los Angeles. And there's about 4 other cities the NFL would rather expand to than Toronto. The NFL already has 32 teams...I can't imagine them expanding much futher and if US sponsorship dollars have anything to say about it, I'm sure any expansion team would be States-bound.

I'm a football fan, and IF ever there was to be a team in Toronto or if the Bills play a game a year, I'd go for sure. But I wouldn't give up my Argos season tix, that's for sure.

The NFL is the best football league in the world. The reason there are americans playing in the CFL is because they arent good enough to be in the NFL.

The NFL will be coming to Toronto in the next few years and it will be a huge success.

I will go to as many games as possible. No Canadian kids grow up dreaming of playing in the CFL, thats like saying Canadian kids grow up dreaming of playing in the AHL instead of the NHL. CFL is a minor league compared to the NFL. It could maybe be used as a farm ( developement ) league when the NFL gets here.

To ultratroll, you are exactly what everyone who lives outside of T.O. pictures when they think of why they dislike T.O. so much. Pompous, arrogant little pencilnecks like you who think that their precious city is better than the rest of Canada. Maybe the rest of Canada should vote to boot T.O. out of OUR country and it can become what it's always wanted to be ... American!

I wouldn't see an NFL game in Toronto even if I lived there. I grew up in Toronto and I can tell you learning to love the CFL was part of becoming a mature Canadian sports fan. I think the CFL should negotiate some exhibition games where they face NFL teams. It has happened in the past and the CFL team won at least once.

um, ultratroll ... you seem a little to passionate about this whole thing. I pity the coach of your son's hockey team ... yes, I know he is a SCUM fro not playing your kid enough.

Here is a little history on NFL games played in Canada, a couple of exhibition games have been played before in Toronto and in Vancouver several years ago and the result was neither city was even close to a sell out. Many tickets were even given away so please as it not as hot as everyone thinks it is. So good luck to the NFL making it work in T.O.based on those games and why would it fare better now than five years ago? You want to see the NFL watch it on t.v or drive to Buffalo. Better game sure that is why many NFL guys come to the CFL and embarrass themselves. I wonder why Kenton Keith is running wild with Indy?

If the NFL comes to Toronto, then yes I would go. I am interested in the CFL, but can only get excited in November to watch. It has nothing to do with American or Canadian football. My money gets spent where I choose to spend it. It may be on a 24 made in Canada or Vodka made in Russia. How many people buy Canadian cars. ultimately the money ends up somewhere else anyway. This is Global market. Your benefiting from that high loonie! Spend it where you choose to spend it. My money's on the NFL! (No pun intended!)

I have absolutely no interest in the NFL coming to Toronto.

Hey Ultratoll. I fail to follow your twisted logic. You say that you are a real Canadian because you want NFL in Toronto. On the other hand, you say that Westerners ae not Canadians because they support the CFL. what does one have to do with the other?

By the way, when you resort to foul name-calling, you are admitting that I am fighting a cerebral battle with an unarmed man.

Cheers, Dude!

I'd like to see the NFL take over the CFL. Merge it into an NFL-Canada expansion program. Canadian teams still could compete for a Grey Cup, but ultimately, every team is still competing for the Superbowl.
