What effect will the NFL have in Toronto?
Tue, April 15, 2008

The Buffalo Bills are coming to Toronto.

The NFL has reached an agreement with the Bills that will allow them to play eight games -- five regular-season contests and three exhibitions -- in Toronto over the next five years.

Will games north of the border have any effect on the CFL? Would you go to an NFL game in Canada? Have your say in our forum.

A foothold in Toronto

Football is best enjoyed amongst true die hard blue collar fans as in Green Bay, Cleveland, Buffalo, Hamilton etc. Toronto may move a NFL team but they can not move the spirit. Fans Paying $66 in Orchard Park will not pay $250 in Toronto I can't imagine any dedicated Canadian football fan selling out their league either. I am an American from Florida. I love visiting Canada epically Ontario. PLEASE keep it Canadian.

Here are two very old geezers Ted Rogers and Ralph Wilson intent on ruining the future of football in both northern New York State and in southern Ontario with one fell swoop. Their future is all in their past. We will have to live with this mess long after they're dead and gone. Buffalo will lose their beloved Bills and Canada will lose the CFL as we know it.

If this supposed successful proposal of the NFL in Canada had any real merit, it would have been brought forward by younger people.

The Americans have set the road to ruin for the NHL. Now they want to ruin the CFL and Canadian football. If Ted Rogers wants an NFL franchise he should move to the US. All that is going to happen from here on in is that our Rogers Cable bill will continue to rise so that the cable users will be funding this latest Ted Rogers empire expansion. We already have received our notice of the new Cable TV rate increases at the same time that this NFL idea was announced.

I will be switching to satellite TV pronto!

It won't be the end of the CFL but the CFL will take a back seat to the NFL. I consider the CFL a true Canadian Football League until we get a team on the east coast. Until we get a team in Halifax, Moncton, or St John I will continue to support the NFL.

Go Bears!!

for CFL fans the answer is simple IF you want to send a message dump all your Rogers products(cel phones etc) ...send a message through consumer action..the rest of Canada can show Ted Rogers 'we're mad as hell and we aren't going to take it'

To Michael Schwerdtfeger,

AHL-American Hockey League

Why is it that Hamilton and Winnipeg have an AHL franchise? Hmm?

NFL belongs in Toronto, period. CFL and NFl can coexist together, peacefully. This is coming from an American.

With average ticket prices nearing $200 how long will a losing club last in Toronto. The fans there will only support one continual loser, the Maple Laughs.

I can't wait!!! For those of you who still care about the cfl oh well. buhh byeee. CFL is all about punting. NFL is slower but has more to the game. Good running and pass games slower yes but if you want a faster game then whatch the make me laughs

The last time I checked the NFL is an American Footbal League and the CFL is the Canadian Football League now if Ted Rogers, Paul Godfrey and all you die-hard NFL fans want to be American than go ahead and leave NOW. The NFL has no business coming to Canada, if it's going to effect the CFL "THE BEST GAME ON GRASS AND OR TURF". That's all that has to be said.

ARRRRRGOOOOOSSSS

I have been a lifelong fan [47 years], of the CFL. Our game is faster, more exciting, and has more meaning since our players are playing for the love of the game, not the assinine salaries NFL players make.Having the Buffalo Bills come to Toronto is just another case of us letting our game slip away. I went to the local Sport Chek store, to buy Argo wear, and was told they "don't do fan support", yet a few months later, I see oceans of Terrell Owens t-shirts they are trying to unload. Let's keep the Americans and their yankee handball south of the border.
