Will Bryan McCabe return to the Maple Leafs lineup just in time to be traded?
The Leafs highest paid defenceman has been a target of boo birds in Toronto for his play. Should the Leafs try and trade McCabe?
Have your say in our forum.
PS- The Leafs goaltenders are great too. The whole team is solid, Really!

And by the way, throw in Kubina with McCabe!

Well Bruce, I think that there might be a little poop left in your diaper because that has to be the most inane comment ever. The Norris Trophy goes to the "BEST defenseman.....not the "worst".
Was that the same year Bertuzzi was going to win the Lady Byng...but he got suspended? Leaf Nation is Too much. Been watching this McCabe clown for years. He has always been a disaster in his own end of the rink.
He never scores 5 on 5. Usually 5 on 3, after getting umpteen chances.
Admit it ....he is the "u" in useless.

I would be getting rid of Hal Gill, way before every considering McCabe.
McCabe would have won the Norris a few years back, had he not been hurt. Is there anyone on the team you would rather not see if you are coming across the blue line?
The biggest change in McCabe's game has to do with the League clamp down on obstruction - so no more can opener. Give McCabe time, he'll come back.

That is my point. McCabe, with his short-comings, does not deserve the negative attention he is getting. I think he is a decent defenceman who is getting paid the same rate as others with his ability in the league, and if you disagree, then that is your opinion (but the stats don't agree with you).
You also said Toronto should get 'decent players'. Again, the fan and media environment will always deter top flight players from coming here, so why not support the guys we have on the team? It is better than publicly humiliating them, watch them get traded and see them win the Stanley Cup elsewhere (Larry Murphy, anyone?)
Unless you have coached at the NHL level and have watched every single Leaf game that Carlo (for example) played, your comment about him being a liability "every time he is on the ice" is misguided.
