Should McCabe be traded?
Sun, February 3, 2008

Will Bryan McCabe return to the Maple Leafs lineup just in time to be traded?

The Leafs highest paid defenceman has been a target of boo birds in Toronto for his play. Should the Leafs try and trade McCabe?

Have your say in our forum.

Most definitely trade McCabe as soon as they find a team that is stupid enough to take him at his ridiculous salary! Throw in Kubina,Gill and Wozniewski as well. The three of them are cumbersome and far too slow!

of course, thats the firt thing Cliff Fletcher is going to do, id trade Sundin and Mcabe to the Flames for Lombardie, Regher, and and a fist round pick, two first rounders would be great for the leafs, and also a good deal for the flames.

McCabe could be moved. He's still a valuable asset to a lot of teams, especially with his shot on the power play.

It would be nice if the Maple Leafs could get a first rounder and a decent young player for him, but it is going to be hard to trade his contract.

If McCabe gets traded he'll be a star in another city.I believe the leafs should see what is available for anyone on their team - they have a ton of good players on this team who can help other teams trying to win the cup.But the Leafs must trade from a position of strength not desperation. If the Leafs can swing a trade for one of their core players that brings them youth, talent and toughness then they should do it, but that doesn't mean that Mats Sundin or Bryan McCabe need to go.Picture McCabe on the power play for the Ducks.Or Mats with the Red Wings. Its a funny thing but confidence in sports is huge - playing with a confident team would make most leafs much better. The Leafs need a couple of guys like Wendel Clarke and Doug Gilmore, then everything will fall into place.

McCabe who.... dump him if you can or send him home you will lose with or without him. His mistakes on defense are what peewees do... sometimes.

It is not likely that they will find any takers. Leafs are stuck.

While he is a talented player, he should not have been signed to such a large contract. He had a great offensive season at the perfect time - just before negotiations.

JFjr made the wrong choice signing him, and should have dealt him at the trade deadline, when his market value was crazy high! Instead of looking towards the future of the team, he risked fueling a mediocre one with the hope that they would JUST make the playoffs.

For the amount of $$ McCabe is making, I'd rather have several "lesser talented" players, and room in cap space to make changes throughout the season...

If they can at all find a taker, dump him!

trade him at the first oppourtunity to do so!!

also throw a bucket of cold water on stajan at the start of each period, he played so so last night on defense, but was asleep on offense!

the odds makers must have put toronto as tyhe winner, hence mccabes best effort, certinately not worth 7 million dollars, more like 700.00 or less!!

the rest of the team play was delicious!!!

no who would want that clown leave him there with the rest of the circus lol

I just read "McCabe's and Raycroft's biggest fan and I have agreed with most of what he's saying, not so sure about raycroft tho. When you have a major newspaper in toronto puting a 15 yr. kid's "macabesucks.com then u know that it's going to affect his play sooner or later. How would we all like it if every mistake we made was posted on a website for the world to see. I think the only thing positive that can now happen is get him the hell out of here and try to get a defenceman back and start on a clean slate. I must admit that he does possess some beautiful industrial hockey plays at times, but those cranium lockups only started when the rules changed and that took away many of his clutch and grab style plays. Everyone take a VALIUM.
