Can the NHL eliminate head shots? Thu, October 11, 2007
Philadelphia Flyers' Jesse Boulerice expects to receive a lengthy suspension after taking a match penalty for cross-checking Vancouver Canucks centre Ryan Kesler in the head Wednesday night.
"I reacted in a bad way -- the wrong way," said Boulerice.

Whether the player gets 15 games or the rest of the season is irrelevant. The team will bring up another meathead from the farm to fill the same role. The team is harmed in no way. The teams need to be responsible for their player's responsibility, with fines and suspensions for coaches and GMs. This makes the players accountable to the team and their coach and GM for their behavior in addition to the player losing income and playing time.

when are these idiots going to learn? give him a LIFETIME suspension from hockey period, and make sure every organized league honours it. this guy should be in jail from what he did in junior. no wonder no one's watching...

Trade him to the Leafs, that would be penatly enough. There aren't any hockey players on that team anyway, so whats one more. Given the shame of being a Leaf by the end of the season will be penalty served.

20 games minimum, without pay, plus whatever pathetically low fine is in the CBA (funny how if a GM dares to criticize a referee he gets dinged in the pocket-book but if a player commits assault on the ice he gets a slap on the financial wrist). If the National Hypocrisy League wants to send a message the Flyers GM should be suspended as well and Boulerice wouldn't play another game in the league this season, regular or playoffs. He's just lucky Kesler wasn't hurt worse than he was, or the NHL could have another McSorley/Brashear incident.

Absolutely moronic! Give this loser at least 30 games, without pay!

like i said in many previous comments on these situations until colin campbell and his cronies do something about these situations someone will be killed mark my words then they will look at it and it will be too late.... cant understand it..

I remember a player (can't remember who) a few years ago slash someone in the head and he was charged with assult by the police. Now whats the difference if its a cross check??
Dwain, 2007-10-11 10:11:54
Maybe increasing the number from the Downie hit would send a message.
They need to look at the forearms to the head during the check as well. And take the armoured gear away.
Why not suspend the player for X games or until the victim can return to the ice?
Trev, 2007-10-11 10:03:23
If Downie got 20 games, this guy should get at least double and without pay... heck even more. I mean, his intent was purely to hurt seeing that he used his stick to cross check someone in the face/head. If the NHL wants to do something you toss the hammer down on these situations more so than the questionable checks.
Unreal.
