What sentence should Ramage get?
Wed, October 10, 2007

A jury has found former NHL player Rob Ramage guilty on all five charges he faced in connection with a fatal 2003 crash that killed a former Chicago Blackhawks player Keith Magnuson. That includes a guilty verdict on the most serious charge, impaired driving causing death.

The prosecution said scientific evidence showed Ramage had up to four times the legal blood-alcohol limit at the time of the crash, though none of the hundreds of people at an earlier reception could say he had a single drink.

Rough day for Ramage

Both ramage and heatly made bad decisions behind the wheel that ended up with the same result. A death. They are both equally as bad. Both had impaired judgement causing death. (did you guys notice the "I know there was no evidence of drunk driving")

Why don't you ask the Magnuson family or the family of parapalegic the drunk left behind. Throw the book at him, 20 years sounds fair. In the event he manned up, we would have showed some pitty, but he lied, drunk!

He should get the same sentence as anyone else...why should he be treated differently because he is a more talented hockey player than most and is making big bucks?

What ever happened to timely justice in this country? He should have already been in jail. Can't anybody ever admit to the crime they have committed? Why do people have to be such cowards? Why do cowards in denile have to cause more grief to the victims family by saying they are not guilty of what they have done? I have more respect for some one who can admit their crimes than the cowards way out.

wayne yet again you are wrong. Heatley wasnt drunk, he was speeding and lost control. There is a difference. Ramage was bombed.

Roy

I should lighten up ? Ramage was hammered, 4 times the legal limit in his system. Thats a criminal offence.
Jimmy, 2007-10-11 01:43:38

His misjudgement caused the death of a person and almost another. It doesn't matter who has got what before or if he is a continued risk.... He didn't take responsibilty for his actions... instead he let up a defence of alcohol swabs and a he said she said...time for him to receive a sentence fitting his crime...murder.

Roy. Danny Heatly was not drunk when he had that accident. There was no alcohol involved. He was a young kid driving too fast.

Rob Ramage had 4 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. Not only did he kill a friend he maimed an innocent person.

He deserves to serve time. The longer the better.

Drinking and driving are no longer acceptable in this country. Making examples of people like Ramage who think they are above the law may deter someone else from driving while drunk.

It is not like he did not have enough money to take a cab.

I say throw the book at him.

Hundreds of people at a reception couldn't say he had a single drink. They also couldn't say he had no drinks. They couldn't actually say anything because they were to busy enjoying themselves to count other peoples drinks. Brilliant defence, glad it didn't work. Too bad he didn't do it in Atlanta, he would still be playing hockey and getting a $45M contract. (i know there was no evidence of drunk driving)

Impaired driving causing death should be treated by the courts the same as murder. Ramage should serve a minimum of 15 years without parole.
