What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

It's never too early to write off the Leafs shot at a post-season. They've got next-to-nothing on the ice and JFJ up top. Need we say more? Don't worry Leafs fans, TMLSE will cut a profit; that's what it's all about in Leaf-Land. Already planning to attend Ottawa Cup Parade. Go Sens Go!!

WOW i thought that was great the way they hung Toskala out to dry. Talk about a confidence booster. The leafs need an overhaul starting from the top down. Ferguson needs to go. Paul Maurice is he a good choice behind the bench personally I’m not so sure. However none of that will change the organization is a cash cow people buy the tickets win or lose so there is no incentive to have a winning team. I wonder if I can get my money back for the sports package I just ordered!

Toskala showed all of his weaknesses last night. He goes down early, so shooters beat him high. When he decides to stand-up, he leaves open a huge 5-hole that shooters love!

When he does the splits, his legs are too short to cover the net from post to post, which leads him vulnerable to wrap-arounds.

How does a so called "GM" not see these tendencies of a player before trading for him. Or better yet, NOT trading for him?

Yes!!Four games into the season is too early to write any team off.. Even the great hogtowns' "in your dream" team. They'll fluke a victory sooner or later, and everyone in toronto, media first in line, will jump back on the wagon once again. It's fall, and the leafs are falling, but we have to wait until spring, before they're out again. Cheers!!

Everyone from the players to the coaches to management should be embarrassed after last nights disgrace.

Sundin isnt a leader. Strip Sundin of being captain today. I cant stand watching him being interviewed saying " we have to play better " but there he is floating around being useless in his own end along with McCabe, Kubina and Gil. Tucker should be the captain, at least he tries his ass off, hitting, fighting, going into the corners with guys that are always bigger than he is!!

Enough of this crappy hockey already!!!!!!

ha ha ha...good one Jeffin...ha ha ha .... poor Leafs....oh they'll do some good things this year, don't doubt that...they'll be right in the thick of it, oh yes.....GO LEAFS GO!!!
Wayne R, 2007-10-10 11:03:06

The leafs suck!! They have no speed and very little skill to compete in todays more skilled game.

It was a pathetic performance from a team with no present or future.

If it werent for Toskals goaltending it would have easily been in the double digits for the Canes.

Hal Gil, Pavel Kubina and McCabe have to go. They are over paid pylons. Gil has to be one of the biggest players in the league yet plays like the smallest.

Forwards arent much better, Leafs are a team with alot of second and third line players and no first liners!

The Leafs horrible display is turning me off hockey.

It was embarrassing to watch that so called hockey last night!

Makes me wonder what the hell they do in practice

I am losing interest in this lousy team and have been for the last few years.

At least there is one team in Ontario that can play the game and play it very well!

What do we expect. JFJ ices the same team three years in a row. No changes, no youth, overpaid and underworked players. Get rid of Gill (he's too slow for this league), McCabe a foregone conclusion (mister slapshot that everybody, even myself could stop), Sundin's on his last legs and wouldn't be around after the trade deadline). Same old, same old, same old team. Too slow!!!! Just my comments. Ohh dump JFJ also, keep Maurice.

I would have to say yes. They have been written off. Last night when I when to check out the game, I got a strange message from my cable provider. Usually when the powers that be decide I can not watch a hockey game, I get a message that states. "Game not available in your viewing area"

However last night was a different story. "The hockey team you are attempting to view is unavailable"
