What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

What is the Leafs' biggest problem? For one thing, that people still care about them. There are really only two things wrong with the Leafs: everything they say, and everything they do. No amount of tinkering with the lineup, management or ownership is going to make the problems go away. The skaters at ACC could be one-armed blind chimps and "fans" would still sacrifice their milk money to watch them play, just by virtue of that blue Maple Leaf on the front of the jersey. Perhaps a road trip to Detroit might help -- when the fans at Joe Louis throw the dead squid onto the ice, the Leafs could pick them up, switch jerseys with them, and Presto! a better team.

Ferguson has done nothing since he took over as manager. And its time to get a leader as Captain Sundin has been AWOL for the past 4 seasons. My vote is for Darcy Tucker

Geez, enough about the leafs, can we check back around xmas, picking this team apart is becoming redundant....

Watching the game in 'Leaf Nation' was a blast tonight!

Another year without a playoff appearance is almost a certainty. And all those who bleed blue and white thought Toskala would be they're saviour.

If Leaf fans ever want their team to improve they have to start boycotting home games so management will make some moves to improve the team.

But heck, management knows Toronto is too huge a hockey market and they will always sell out. Not even a 10-70 season would deter fans from buying tickets.

Long gone are their glory days when they had a 1 in 6 chance of winning the cup...

Go Flyers Go! - and Go any team playing them

hey toady

this is antropovs what 7th or 8th year. if you think he will keep this scoring up all year then I have some cheap land for sale lol.

if the make me laffs make the playoffs and thats a big if, it will be as the 8th place team. do you really think they can win a round ?

wow 2 wins in a row ok lets give them the cup now lol. beat pittsburgh, they are struggling right now, rangers arent one of the best teams in the league.

Where to start? Ownership, GM, Coach...that sums it up pretty good..cant fix the roster till you fix those three issues..I wonder if Fergie went to school with George W Bush, there leadership skills are pretty close..George thinks more troops are the answer in Iraq..Fergie thinks more 4th liners with huge contracts is the answer in Toronto.

Hey Toady:

How do you like these apples?

"The Leafs have now given up an NHL-high 51 goals on the season"

GO SENS!
JD Oshawa, 2007-10-30 00:12:09

hey jimmy,

well lets see, gee they won again and have a better record than 14 other teams based on win percentage. we finally have a number 1 goaltender and raycroft should only start the second game of a back to back nights. Also, the longer that tucker and mccabe are out the better cause neither one of them is responsible in their own end - just look at there +/-. Mvp this year is Antropov, way to stick with him. oh well I will predict that 5 teams will be fighting hard for playoff spots and the leafs will be one of them and this year they will make it cause raycroft cost us at least 8 points last year with soft, soft goals at crucial times, even got pulled last game against the habs which was the most important game of the year at the time.

GO LEAFS GO!
toady, 2007-10-29 19:22:45

wHOOP-DEE-DOO two wins! Let's give JFJ another contract and a raise too.

the injuries to Tucker & McCabe are a bonus. it is obvious that the leafs are`a better team without these two clowns. Can you believe that these two lumps garner 20% of the Leafs payroll? That is sufficient reason to FIRE FERGUSON NOW.
Steverino, 2007-10-28 18:19:30

After two impressive wins against the Penguins and Rangers, the biggest problem the Leafs have is the prospect of players like McCabe and Tucker getting healthy and coming back into the line up.
