What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

JFJ should be fired and the hockey dept re-worked. If the new GM says Maurice should go so be it.

Tuuka Rask totally awesome. Harold Ballard would have traded a good goalie too. What can you say. Coulda,Shoulda Woulda.

Fans. Start with a case of beer. Have friends over. Take the next day off work. Don't worry about the Leafs. They will win one next month.

GIVEN THE LEAFS TRACK RECORD IS NO SURPRISE .WHERE THEY STAND...AS LONG AS THE RINK IS FULL.....OWNERSHIP DON'T CARE ABOUT THERE PRODUCT....HATS OFF TO ALL THE LEAFS THAT HAVE MOVED ON TO OTHER TEAMS....BALLARD IS STILL SMILING IN HIS GRAVE...TO BAD, COACH MAURICE ...DOES NOT HAVE MUCH SAY IN HOCKEY OPERATIONS. BUT THAN AGAIN .....MANAGERS LIKE FERGUSON ARE JUST THERE ,CAUSE HE WAS ABLE TO PULL A FEW STRINGS....WELL CUT THOSE DAMM STRINGS AND BRING A PRODUCT TO THE FOREFRONT ...SO US LONG TIME LEAF FANS CAN HAVE A GOOD PRODUCT ON THE ICE. ITS REALLY ABSURD, THAT THEY GO AFTER A DEAD HORSE LIKE RAYCROFT AND PAY MILLIONS AND TOSKALA WHICH IS OK, CUZ HE HAD YET THE PLAYING TIME TO REALLY PROVE HIMSELF. UMM DOES TORONTO NOT WANT TO GROOM THEIR GOALIES LIKE POGGE INSTEAD OF TRADING AWAY ANOTHER HIGH PROSPECT LIKE RASK FOR SOME WANNA BE GOALIE !!! TAKE A LOOK AT MONTREAL , THEY HAD THEODORE AS THERE SAVIOUR, BUT AT LEAST THEY HAD THE SENSE TO TRADE HIM AWAY, AND GIVE THERE PROSPECTS A CHANCE. DING DONG ! NOW YOU HAVE THE BEST YOUNGEST GOALIES PLAYING FOR THE SAME TEAM AND ANY ONE THEM CAN WIN A GAME FOR THEM. THATS HOW CLUELESS THE GM IS FOR A TEAM WHO WAS WAS RESPECTED AND CHEERED FOR WORLDWIDE BY MANY FANS.WAKE UP LEAF MANAGEMENT !!

The Jays belong in Triple A

GO SENS!

I think one team in Toronto is enough. They just need someone to buy the team and straighten it out.

One game does not make a career, but I do find it ironic that Rask gets his first career win, in convincing fashion, against the Leafs. The wailing of the fans got to management so that they traded away their prospect, like they have always done, to bring in Raycroft. Well, Raycroft has not been bad, but because the Leafs are still losing the fans are still wailing. Now they want Raycroft and JFJ and whoever gone. If they'd just shut up, let the Leafs lose, stop bringing in old washups to help them just limp into the playoffs before bowing out, let them miss the playoffs, take the draft picks and KEEP THE PROSPECTS, then maybe they will be as good as the Sens if 6 years. If not, another 40 years is possible. I say, fire the fans and get a new bunch.

The best thing that could happen to the Leafs is to put a second team right in Toronto and take away some of the pressure so this all can happen.

I can smell the Leafs from Calgary. Great game against Boston! Andropov, Sundin, Tucker, McCabe... what have they brought to this team but failure. When is the last time they went to the conference final? 92?
Sean, 2007-11-20 22:32:12

Leaf nation....slow down a bit relax....your team still stinks.

one win over a very flat Sens team and now ya think that the Leafs might make the playoffs. A win over the hapless Bruins will make the Leafs a cup contender..

Mind boggling. McCabe still sucks. tucker is`still useless. frick they got nobody. Even Sundin is about five years past his due date

Ben

Points are well made. I agree. Toronto can be in the mix with the Sabres, Thrashers, Bruins, Devils, Islanders.

I just wonder if its good for them to make the playoffs and probably get knocked out in the first round instead of missing and getting a better draft pick.
