What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

Can somebody please organize a Anti-MLSE demonstration in front of the ACC on any Saturday game night? After 40 years we must do something really drastic to stop this bleeding. Leafs long suffering need to stand up and demand a REAL change NOW!!! Richard Peddy must quit running the Leafs NOW!!!

Improvement can occur almost immediately if JFJ's replacement can tell good hockey players from bad ones, something JFJ was never able to do. I am already talking about JFJ in the past tense because obviously he is a goner. Might take awhile yet until Laffs mgt figures it out but JFJ can go back to St. Louis anytime and apply his skill set there. Still need more convincing that Coach Mo has to go. Look at the defense and tell me that another coach would make a difference. Ian, Carlo, Steffan, Gill and Andy are just such marginal talents, what is a coach supposed to do to stop the opposition except give them each an elephant gun?

Glad to see you're reading the posts Jake. If you notice, I have stopped commenting on that other "pampered post" as it is likely one of the more ridiculous ones ever started in this forum.

So, by pointing out logical failings I am a "blowhard" - someone who, in your perfect world, is not entitled to express an opinion I gather.

Instead of demonstrating your cyber-courage why not refute any of the points I made. That wou7ld at least be the basis for discussion - which this site is all about. If you think I'm wrong on any point I made - pinpoint it. Then we'll go from there.

The leafs are only 4 points out of a playoff spot ..plus only 2 Canadian teams have won the Stanley cup in the last 20 years and the Leafs sell-out all thier games, so no need to change anything.

Yes, heads should roll from the penthouse (Management)to the outhouse (Players). Peddie get out and go back to selling candy to the kids, if you would of hired the right person from the beginning the Leafs probably would of still been in this MESS. Teachers Pension fund whoever you are, sell the team now so you can fill your pockets for that is all you seem to want. John Ferguson Jr., Paul Maurice and coaching staff I believe it's time for you to leave also. JFJ piss poor trades and or signings and Maurice/coaches clearly the players don't want to play for you. The players whoever doesn't show (talk is cheap) they want to be a Toronto Maple Leaf can leave anytime. You guys should show a little pride for the jersey you wear and not consider it a joke when you fail. Take a look at last night's game (Habs vs Leafs) come shootout time from the zamboni driver to the coaches and then the players all look like thay had a big laugh and then you look at Tucker, Blake and Andropov (what a joke) there laughing when they failed to score.

William Rice - Nuff said!

having listeened to peddie on the fan 590 yesterday, i can only conclude that this arrogant, clueless failure of a president is the main reason the leafs are where they are today. yes, ferguson needs to go, but so does richard peddie. now, please.
kyliep, 2007-11-28 10:58:24

Someone said they cancelled there Leaf TV channel, I would to if I had it and want my money back.

Peddie said yesterday they are " monitoring " the situation. Leafs havent made the playoffs in 3 years and this year will be 4 and now you start monitoring it. Glad you are on the ball there.

I cant believe he is the guy running the hockey side of MLSE, he is a business man not a hockey man. Now we can see why this is such a mess.

I am starting to think that Peddie and Tanenbuam dont want a respected GM like a ie Brian Burke because then they wont be able to put their 2 cents in on how things should be done. If they tried to Burke would tell them to go take a hike LOL.

O'Leary:

Please go back and read your 2007-11-22 post under the heading "Are the Leafs too pampered". I didn't think we would be hearing from you again re: the Leafs. I should have known that a blowhard like you could only stay away from the most popular email strings (i.e. topics concerning the Leafs) for a short period of time, before you felt compelled to demonstrate your incredible knowledge of the game.
