2012 GAMES

What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

Yeah Adam, they rule last place! or let's hope so, that way we can get the number one pick in 2008. Just finish close to the bottom for the next few years and we should have a decent base to build up on.

Stanley Cup in 2017! Ownerships should get rid of Peddie, JFJ and the rest and get someone who knoes how to evaluate player talent better. Also, try to improve their scouting system. Remember this team trades away almost all good draft picks for old age over the hill players with less than 2 years left in their legs. We traded potentially the Eric Lindros pick away for Tom Kurvers if I remember correctly. Leafs finished 3rd from the bottom that year and I think N.J. got someone really really good for him (Niedermeyer??). Leafs get Larry Murphy and try to use him as a top defenseman(like Mccabe) however he is mostly a power play specialist so he goes to Detroit is used as he should be and wins 2 cups. Keep some of the young talent like Tulsti, Stajan, Steen, and Wellwood, Antripov and get rid of anyone over 30 or so (whichs is probably almost 1/2 the team). Meet you all at the parade down Yonge street June, 2008.

And one last thing, the tickets are almost all owned by companies which get 50% writeoff for the their taxes which they give away to die hard leaf fans therefore the rink will never ever ever be empty cause no one gives up free tickets. Therefore stop calling for boycott cause it is never ever ever going to happen in hockeytown, centre of the universe for our beloved Maple Leafs.

Golf Leafs Golf!

(if we lose tonight to the thrasers that number one pick is going to look a whole lot better, common Edmonton, Washington and L.A. win some games for us!) Take off your rose coloured glasses all cause Leafs are not going to make the playoffs so may as well hope we finish last!! (Just look at Pittsburgh now). P.S. I watch all the games and cheer for the Leafs, but my wifey has given up on them(SHE now likes Ottawa-which makes me want to barf but at least she will be enjoying the playoffs next year.), however I will never buy Leaf TV until the product I am buying does not STINK!

There is nothing wrong with the leafs that a total change in ownership and front office couldn't fix. Ferguson should NEVER have been hired, and even when they finally get rid of him, the damage that he has done could take years to fix. The only shot the leafs have is new leadership and trying to trade away some of the better names we have. Sundin should be traded to a team that has a legit shot at winning the cup, he deserves it. We need young fast players that are on the way up not verterans who are on the way out. Unfortunatly we are going to be stuck with some of these players who's salaries are so inflated thanks for JFJ's foresight that no other team is going to take them

Get off the leafs already people! They rule!

adam, 2007-11-29 13:10:23

Leaf fans MUST STOP GOING TO WATCH THE LEAFS. It's all about the mighty dollar when it all comes down to it. This goes back to the Ballard days the place is full so why put a good product out, they lose 17000 people and theres another 17000 to take there place and so on and so on. We as fans must STOP GOING TO WATCH THERE CRAP. MAKE them put a GOOD IF NOT GREAT TEAM TOGETHER.

I agree with Norbit --- this is the only city outside of Manchester, England who blindly supports their biggest sports franchise no matter what (the only difference is, Manchester has one championship soccer team and another improving one, and Toronto hasn't had a Stanley Cup for 41 years). This ownership will only feel what is taken out of their pocketbooks --- we can always watch the Leafs for free on CBC and leave the ACC empty until changes are made (wishful thinking!)

Raycroft and McCabe's biggest fan (???) --- ummmmm, are you serious? Don't get me wrong, I think (and posted) that McCabe is unfairly singled out for the team's failures too, but Raycroft??? Sorry dude, not worth the trade for Tukku Raask...

Too many people are blaming the players and their high salaries. Most of them stating that they are not playing up to what they are paid. Get your heads around this...if management could recognise hockey talent, the players on the Leafs, except for Sundin, would not be getting paid even 1/10th of what they now get. They are truly playing up to their potential, the problem is...the potential is so low. And another's time to stop wasting your time on these posts...all you are doing is one that can or will make a decision will ever read any of them!

McCabe has a fan? Unfricken believable. Must be 8 years old because everyone in Leaf Nation with half a brain knows that McCabe sucks. He is brutal.
Hound, 2007-11-28 18:57:55

Leafs are second worst team in the league and only 5 points ahead of Washington for last place. What else needs to be said about this crappy team and management/ownership.
