What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

What's this? Boston 2, Leafs 1? WHOA!!! WHOA!!! HOLD THE PARADE!!! HOLD THE PARADE!!! FIRE THE GM!!! FIRE THE COACH!!! FIRE SOMEBODY!!! TRADE EVERYBODY!!! Or should we maybe wait until after the next game to decide if we're going to have a parade or fire/trade the entire team?

Leafs have 1st place in their sights. Seems like they want to keep Ferguson around. I reckon each of them think that he might get a big fat contract out of the moron. a la Tucker and McCabe .

no reason to get excited. same group of clowns. same pathetic management.

i think that they have been embarrassed so much that they are now playing as though each game is the stanley cup final. meanwhile their opponents basically have been taking the night off .

I, for one, continue to have concerns about this team. They have definitely improved of late, however when I look at the shots on goal for in the last two games, 15 and 16, I don't think we are out of the woods yet. Shooting percentage is through the roof, coupled with very good goal tending can give the impression of a vastly improved team. On the plus side they have cut down on many of the stupid, selfish penalties, Toskala has looked great, and Belak back in the line-up seems to coincide with the recent winning streak ... he adds something to this team far beyond his goal scoring abilities. Welcome back Wade. At this level confidence is key, and if we get on a roll ... ?

4 game winning streak, and already we've got the cup in the bag. Seriously! I'm a huge Leafs fan, but I'm also realistic. All this did was guarantee JFJ's job for a while (a very short while I hope!). I'll give credit where credit is due here, but I'm certainly not going to start lining up for the parade.

They have gone as high as they can.. It is all down hill from here.. No Playoffs for You

Wow, yes 4 wins in a row and they are still not in a playoff position, just shows you how bad they were before the streak. Defense is playing better and Toskala is shining and saving their butts as they were outplayed last 2 games. Hopefully they can beat the Bruins on saturday but it is a team that gives them trouble.

Better keep winning Leafs or it will be a depressing spring again.

GO LEAFS GO!

Well, Sens fans, ya gotta give credit where credit is due. In the "Should the Sens be worried?" string, a couple of days after the strng was started, there were still only, what? 50 repsonses? In the Leafs string, mere hours after consecutive win #4, there are 440 repsonses. Props to Leaf Nation from Sens Army, dudes. Respect. Congrats to the Buds for 4 straight. I hope they make the playoffs but still, at this point, wouldn't bet on it. Despite our recent stumbles, I also still think the Sens are Cup worthy.

Cheers!

Last week it was should heads roll. This week it's how far can they go. It's no wonder they haven't one a cup in decades with this kind of support behind them.
