What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

As much as I would like to see the Leafs stink it up for a couple of years and end up with a Stamkos and/or a Tavares, I don't know if I can bare two more years without the Leafs in the Playoffs. I will loose my mind! The past two playoffless years have been hell, I can't wait any longer.

i dont know how exited leafs nation would be if they got a high up choice, they'd be the most exited people in the world.

Leaf nation is quite unbearable with a leaf team that stinks. I cannot imagine how annoying they would be if they ever had a contender.

of course, that's a mighty big IF

Blue: I would rather have Ray Emery in a Leaf uniform than Raycroft or Toskala, with all due respect to them. He is the only Sens player that actually has a personality, and that "fight" with McGrattan was laughed about in the locker room after practice

just put them out of their misery and demote the whole team to the AHL

I don't even know why these discussions get opened up. Peddie and the others "running" the Leafs don't give a flying fish fart about what the supporters of the Leafs have to say. They are making money hand over fist and see no reason to change the way they do BUSINESS. The Leafs are no longer a hockey team, but a cash cow to enrich the pension fund of a group of people that show up for work only 1/3 of the year. Staus quo works and there is absolutely no reason to make the team competitive...time to face the facts.

Obviously, I have way to much time on my hand, if I can write a comment to this blog. Fact - I am a huge Leaf fan living in the U.S.A. south.. I think the real issue is the absence of a pay for performance..Players should be paid on results - not a blanket contract. If that were the case Tucker, Blake, Ponner, etc would get exactly what they're worth... instead the leafs paying $1.0 M per goal.. and thats no way to run a business. Cheers! its 72 degree in Charlotte :o) Love ya T.O

no, we need to make the playoffs - trade first and second round picks for better players - JFJ is great

Is it time to blow up the Maple Leafs? Hell yeah, just get 'em all in one room together, lock the door, and toss in a few grenades. Canada, the NHL, and the sport itself will be better off if they no longer exist. BOOOOOO-yah!

Blue...

Don't kid yourself. We in Ottawa laugh at Bonehead Emery too.But..even if McGrattan was to play net.I'd still put my money on the sens to do better then the loafs.Keep on laughing buddy !!..We're laughing right along with you.
