What should the Leafs do?
Tue, January 8, 2008

The Maple Leafs felt like throwing a hockey stick through the television following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, preferably at the big HD screen at National Hockey League headquarters in Toronto.

But angry Nik Antropov took the team's anger at a costly overtime penalty and three video replay reversals the hardest, hurling his stick towards referees Mike Leggo and Don Koharski after Rod Brind'Amour netted the game-winner.

Forget about throwing hockey sticks. What about throwing in the towel on the season? What should the Leafs do before the trade deadline? Have your say in our forum.

There is no quick fix,as the ineptitude from management down through the system has been entrenched for decades. Hiring back Fletcher would be a Big mistake as he has failed since his Calgary demise. The only quick solution if you want to cheer for a winning team is to do the unquestionable and abandon the Leafs for Ottawa!!

Looks like the Maple Leafs brass is going to hire Fletcher as interim GM.

I hope he can gut the team and rebuild it.

The leafs'team is a medium, because anything well done is rare.

The Leaf coach should have Sundine moved to defence. In a defensive posture, Sundine will preserve his playing life and contribute more goals on the sudden rush. In addition, Belak should be placed on the forward line to cover for Sundine on his breaks for the net. Sundine when coupled with somelike like White will provide deep offensive thrusts while keeping defenders up high to cover the defence. Hopefully this message will get to Maurice.

Hey Leaf fans, a lot of hockey fans in Tampa (yes hockey fans folks) are getting real sick of hearing about the leafs. Here is a franchise that has not won a cup in 40 years, or even a division championship for that matter in recent memory. Yet Toronto fans think the league revolves around the Leafs. The Lightning win a cup in 12 years , then Carolina, Then the Ducks. The Leafs?A truly pathetic franchise not about to change any time soon, I'm sure.Only you are to blame Toronto fans continuing to support mostly pathetic performances. Not much else to do with your money in Toronto eh?

The entire Leaf organization is a total disappointment and it's disgusting to see and hear. The ownership doesn't appear to care one bit about the state of the Leaf team. They're obviously much more concerned about how much money they can make so why should they care how bad their team is, knowing fullwell the Leafs are the only act in town.

Somehow, someway, get rid of Kubina,Gill,Wozniewski,

they're all too slow and immobile and Kubina takes terrible penalties. Throw in McCabe while you're at it! I'd keep Tucker because he has more character than anyone else except perhaps Sundin.

Ferguson obviously has to go.He's a lame-duck GM who is unable to make decisions, which is good, because most of his decisions have been disasters. And what would be so wrong with bringing back Pat Quinn to replace Maurice - or Pat Burns!

Goober....we get the point. ...and 98% of us agree with you about side-show-Bob. He is the poster boy for what is wrong with the Leafs.

He is overpaid & over-rated.

A fraud, a floater, a whiner with an oversized ego.....and those are his good points.

But Goober we all know this. amen ok

Ben TO you are right now politically however if the libs didn't just have that money scandel the country would still be lib. I have a free preview of Center Ice and both the Edmonton game against LA was blacked out and the a Calgary game recently was blacked out. I can watch more toronto games than I could ever handle. Fan base is relative to the city size sure people move around and stay fans but for the most part there is more edmonton fans in edmonton. If edmonton was the same size as toronto it would be an even spread. Whats my point its all about the east, I know its population density and what not but there is still half the land mass of canada that is being represented by east. Even all these forums are dominated by the leafs. There are 3 western teams that almost never get talked about.

A Maple Leaf laying on the ice, hand to mouth in obvious dire straits....could it be our sniper Darcy Tucker? Will he live? will he ever play again?

Of course it's Tucks. Who else in the league takes a little lumber under the chin and acts like he was just hit by a blast from a bazooka?

Jeezus H.....what a nancy-boy.....priceless
