Should LeBron apologize to Indians' fans?
Fri, October 5, 2007

CLEVELAND - The most famous athlete in Cleveland is rooting for the New York Yankees. LeBron James always has.

He showed up at Jacobs Field for Game 1 on Thursday night sporting a Yankees cap - and fans sitting near him chanted for him to take it off. "I've always been a Yankee fan. I'm a big Derek Jeter fan," James said during an in-game TV interview after Cleveland took the lead. "I'm here to represent the Yankees, but right now it's not looking too good."

LeBron riles Indians' fans

nice when its such a slow news day. Who cares who he cheers for. Its not like he plays for the Indians.

Sheesh, get over yourselves

Sebastian, apparently you're the biggest TOOL in the shed. LeBron can cheer for whomever he likes, regardless of his stature in Cleveland. A mockery of your city...don't make me laugh.

No...On the other hand, maybe the media should apologize to him for making a big deal out of nothing again.

Typical Toronto response to such a question. Visions of grandeur dancing before your eyes? As they say in New Yawk "fuggetaboudit." I doubt that 1% of NFL fans could pinpoint Toronto on a map - or would even want to for that matter. Viewership in the U.S. drops like a rock whenever the Jays or Raptors are involved, and that's one thing the NFL doesn't need with just one game per team a week. Take off the rose-coloured glasses and realize that, in Canada you may be the big fish in the pond, but compared to most U.S. cities you're a minnow.

Obviously nobody here but Sebastian is a Cleveland Fan. If Kobe Bryant went to a Dodgers game wearing a Padres hat during a Dodgers Padres game, the fans would probably throw stuff at him.... We pay Lebron's salary and hie is gonna rub our face in it. All I can say is if he does it again, I would be fine with us trading him, and a HUGE percentage of Clevelanders feel the same way. I was at the game and out at bars afterwards, it was the talk of the town. Don't Canadians have any loyalty??? WOW that is crazy.

stop focusing on differences, and start focusing on similarities!!! freedom of speech? glad i live in Canada, best country in the world!!!

No he should apologize to Cleveland, not just Indians fans. Yeah not everyone is an Indians fan in Cleveland, but not everyone is the biggest star in our city's history either!

All you people who don't understand the ramifications of this aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

It's a motivator for the yankees and a mockery of our city. He should keep his yankees loyalty to himself. We are the laughing stock of baseball because of him.
sebastian, 2007-10-05 14:17:26

Absolutely not!
Ken, 2007-10-05 14:12:11

Apologize? Obviously not. The question is stupid.

I applaud LeBron’s boyhood loyalties by sticking with the Yankees. There are too many "band-wagon" jumping fans today in pro-sports. Some people change teams to whoever is winning at the time. I too have strong loyalties to my boyhood teams and have had the opportunity to celebrate many Championships by being a lifelong Yankees fan. That is more then I can say about another team of mine. The hapless Leafs.
