Did the Sens make the right moves? Mon, October 1, 2007
The Senators have set their season-opening lineup and as reported today, rookie Nick Foligno has made the grade.
Veteran defenceman Lawrence Nycholat was among the eight players assigned to Binghamton, along with winger Denis Hamel. Rookies Alexander Nikulin, Ilja Zubov and Brian Lee were also dispatched to the club's AHL affiliate.
After watching the Sens play the Leafs I think Foligno has looked good for a rookie. He gives them good size, has good hands and is a physical winger.
He was drafted 28th overall, the Leafs had a pick before that and probably drafted a soft european player.
The Leafs are the oldest and softest team in the league. They need to start drafting Canadian kids.
Kilger and Tucker are the only two Leafs that throw there weight around every game.
I am tired of watching this poor excuse for a team. The front office needs to back off and hire a proven hockey man to run things.
Until then nothing will change in Leaf land and they will continue to struggle to make the playoffs every year.

They look good going into the season opener, which they will win handily. But I still wish they could have secured a forward during the summer, someone with size and something to prove, just to add some piss 'n' vinegar to the mix.

I think they did..Although i believe it's just a matter of time before Nycholat gets called back up.As far as Elliot goes!! I wouldn't be surprised if he's to become the sens # 1 goalie before too long.He played rather well in the preseason, especially last night, when he stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced..I'm not quite certain why they kept Richardson..obviously,the coaching staff saw something in him...I'm still looking!!..Cheers!!!
