Do you like the idea of bigger nets in hockey?
Tue, September 25, 2007
Roberto Luongo says he'd quit the NHL if the league introduced larger nets.

There is no plan to do so but there was a lot of talk a couple of years ago as an idea to enhance offence.

Do you agree with Luongo? Have your say in our forum.

Bigger nets, smaller goalie equipment, bigger ice surface nothing will get the yanks interested in hockey so stop messing with it!!

If the yanks cant follow the puck or the speed of the game or isnt enough scoring, SCREW THEM!!

Michael

How many partners are there in the new Nashville group ? Or in Atlanta ? Or Phoenix ?
Jimmy, 2007-10-03 19:48:14

No, I don't want to see a bigger net. One thing that could be done is to make the ice surface bigger.

It gets tiring watching all these scrums in the corner and no room on the ice for the players to play real hockey that takes skill.

Take a look at how many owners per Canadian team there are.We don't have the the money men that the U.S. have and the corporations like Molsons that have the money ,end up selling their company and team to U.S. interest.

Mr.Basillie wants a team in Hamilton so he can attend all there games as its an hour from his home in the Kitchener area.

If I was a billionaire I wouldnt buy the Habs either. There are more than a few rich men in Canada that can afford a pro team.
Jimmy, 2007-10-03 10:32:31

So what happened to the great Montreal Canadians,a Canadian icon with a American owner,Jim Basillie is one of the few Canadian money men that has shown interest. Is the NHL supposed to jump when Basillie wants to move a team to Hamilton or Winnepeg? Why doesn't he buy the Habs.
Micheal, 2007-10-02 20:17:28

Michael

Winnipeg lost the Jets to Phoenix because they couldnt get a new arena built.

Have you heard of Jim Basillie, the billionaire from Waterloo, he wants a team badly but Bettman is going behind his back to not let it happen. There are alot of wealthy people in Canada that can afford an NHL team.

As for soccer it is way behind hockey and always will be.
Jimmy, 2007-10-02 05:30:46

The problem with Canada is we don't have financial solvent owners to make hockey work in those places. Most Canadian teams have several owners and want to make profit where the American owners care more about the prestige of owning a sports team and tax right offs.So you would see Canadian teams with Jimmy's dreaded American owners.Winnepeg lost their team because they were not selling out untill their last season when they new they were losing the team.As hockey might be a Canadian identity, soccer has replaced it in the playing.
Micheal, 2007-10-01 18:30:32

Instead of making the nets bigger they should make the puck smaller!

Give me a break, if any team has good players they will get there fair share of goals.
Terry, 2007-10-01 10:58:37

Bettman has to go. All these ridiculous changes to a great game just for trying to get american fans watching on tv. It isnt going to happen. Bettman is living in a fantasy world if he thinks he can get a tv deal like the NBA has. All the while he is turning off the true fans here in Canada.

Why Bettman isnt realizing that americans couldnt give a rats ass about hockey is beyond me. maybe its his ego or he is just too damn stubborn, either way there will never ever be a big money deal in the states for the NHL!

Stop messing with the game Bettman before you lose alot of true, diehard Canadian fans and then where will the NHL be ?
