What should happen to Jays coaching staff?
Tue, September 25, 2007

The Toronto Blue Jays didn't have to worry about another late-inning bullpen meltdown Tuesday night - they were buried well before the ninth in this one.

The New York Yankees knocked around a fading Shaun Marcum for eight runs - capped by Jason Giambi's grand slam in the fifth inning - en route to their sixth straight victory, 9-2 over their reeling hosts.

Are any of the Jays coaches in danger of being fired? Or do you think J.P. Riccardi may lose his job after this season? Have your say in our forum.

Will any Jays coaches get fired?

At first I was going to write J.P. Riccardi should be the fall guy. But after some reflection, he has drafted and traded for some decent talent.

The young pictures he drafted MacGowan, Marcum, Litsch and Janssen have been solid. He also made good trades that brought in Wolfe and Accardo.

Young position players like Rios and Hill have also become stars under J.P. Riccardi.

I say give him another year with the current cast and hope everyone stays healthy.

The bullpen was lights out, Toronto fans should be salivating at the possibilities - just think how much more dominating they'll be if Ryan and League can put it back together.

The only weakness I see is a left fielder with speed who can play defense and steal a base. Hopefully, once Johnson has the time to heal and train properly will return to his '05 form.

Should J.P. Riccardi get the axe this year - no, but if they don't win in '08, I say clean house!

Paul Godfrey and J.P. should both be fired. Bring back Beeston and Gillick

J.P should go right behind Gibbions this guy could not manage a dog race let alone a ball team.He does not no when to take picthers out or when to leave them in. we lost guys like Lilly because of him, and J P name me a good deal other than the signing of Matt that he made.

The Jays let the hitting coach go, that should make them contenders next year I guess. Thats like an NHL team firing an assisant coach for not making the playoffs. No wonder the Jays are where they are in the standings with that kind of mentality.

The coaching staff is fine. The problem is the big money position players that aren't getting it done at the plate. That's the GM's department, so I think they need to look there first.

I think the last piece of this puzzle has to be replacing Gibbons.

He just does not seem aggressive enough to me, and it is a direct reflection of the team.

Get someone that has a little fire in their belly and watch this team soar!!!!

A change will do wonders for this team. We've won in this division before and can again (back to back). There is no use crying about the yanks or sox out spending us because they out spend just about everybody. If Paul Godfrey would have the balls to axe his boy J.P. Ricciardi, then this organization could be in a better spot for contention.Ted Rogers is now willing to shell out the dough and with money you need a good G.M. who knows talent when he see's it.The Jays style of play needs to change and won't with Ricciardi still at the helm.

All of the coaches should be let go and that includes JP. JP lead us to believe that the Jays would finish in second place this year behind the Red Sox as he thought the Yankee's pitching wouldnt be very good this year. This his is 6th year I believe and the best he has done is third place, thats only because Baltimore and Tampa Bay have had even worse teams than the Jays. Clean house as soon as the season ends and find a GM that has experience not an assitant with no years experience running a big league team.

Until this City swallows some pride and stop thinking that this is the center of the earth, then the fans demand that the teachers union sell their shares and theumbrella of the MLSE sells then the city finds one majority owner, nothing will happen. There will never be a Stanley Cup or an NBA championship and forget a World Series, which I hope the teachers stay that way this city of loosers will always be laughed at by any major sports team.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

This is why the Jays are out of it, losing 2/3 at home to Baltimore this past weekend. A team that is below you at the pro level shouldnt beat you especially at home.

Thats the difference between the Yankees / Red Sox and the Jays, they beat teams like Baltimore's, Kansas, Tampa's that are give me wins pretty much while the Jays lose to them!

J.P. should be done and everyone he hired to.

Hey J.P. dont let the door hit you on the ass on the way out!
