Will the Leafs make the playoffs?
Wed, September 26, 2007

The Toronto Maple Leafs are skating into the NHL season with a new mindset and it is going to make a difference.

A year ago, they set their collective goal low. They talked about having to plug away in a dogfight for a playoff spot and, with injuries playing no small role, they fell just short for the second year in a row.

Leafs keep familiar cast

What a bright idea by JFJ and Maurice, didnt make the playoffs last year so lets bring back the same old slow team and try again.

Yes they signed Blake, guy has one good year and gets a contract like he is a super star. Just another over paid player that is in his early 30's, so he should fit right in.

The Leafs will Pohl and Ondrus their way to 10th or 11th in the conference.

They've got a lot of guys who play hard and try hard, but on paper they've got one of the weakest rosters in the league.

Although I am a Maple Leafs fan, I dont think they will be playoff bound this season. Maybe missing the post season for a 4th straight season will finally get the big wigs on Bay St to start doing doing some work.

Nothing to do with the Leafs or even hockey in general, but does ANYONE out there know the difference between "their" "there" and "they're"??? Or, for that matter, "then" and "than?" What schools did these people attend?
George O'Leary, 2007-10-01 13:15:56

Paul Maurice said it, "We'll make the playoffs and compete for the Stanley Cup". He was right last year when he said, "it's going to be a dogfight". He will be right again!

What does it matter? The Leafs will never contend for the Cup until the Teachers' Pension Fund sells the team to a real person...one who cares about performance and not how many trucks are needed to take the fans' money to the bank. Just a word of advise to those of you lucky enough to be able to actually attend a game in the ACC...boycott a game or 2...maybe around Christmas. It's time someone in Leafs management is held responsible for not listeneing to those who pay their salaries....US....the Fans!!!

Relax...leafs fans...ask this question again in December....if they don't perform the first two months...then NO..they will not make the playoffs...and let's be realistic here..you can't go from 2 years of not making the playoffs to a contender for the cup...not in Leafland....let's just hope for a decent year and some good games....

Did I hear that right, the Leafs only had 13 shots on net in Detroit in there last preseason game ???

What an impressive performance for a team going to the finals this year!

I just have one question for the front office, can I pay for my playoff tickets right now ? Because after that flat performance I am sure they will be there this year lol.

Jimmy

LOL I agree what a lousy performance, 13 shots on net and no goals. I would have thought they would have played alot better game considering in was there last preseason game also.

No wonder this team hasnt made the playoffs the last few years, they are so inconsistent from 1 night to the next you never know which team will show up on any given night.

Looks like another long and disappointing season in Leaf land.

I have to say very impressive game last night Make Me Laffs, a whopping 13 shots on net for the entire game. I would have thought they would have 13 shots a period with it being the final exhibition game.

Im just glad the game wasnt on tv because I would have changed the channel and watched a movie.

Brutal performance for a team wanting to contend not for the playoffs but the Stanley Cup LMAO.
