Will the Leafs make the playoffs?
Wed, September 26, 2007

The Toronto Maple Leafs are skating into the NHL season with a new mindset and it is going to make a difference.

A year ago, they set their collective goal low. They talked about having to plug away in a dogfight for a playoff spot and, with injuries playing no small role, they fell just short for the second year in a row.

Leafs keep familiar cast

I hope their time never runs out. While they're still working on their "streak" of failure, the fans can actually watch some pretty good playoff hockey.

get rid of gm ferguson and brian mc cabe!

no future with these two losers!

other than that we wcan progress in spite of owner ship!

Yes, they are running out of time and until they put someone in power (management) who wants to win and not just make the almighty dollar they still won't win anything.

Richard "know nothing" Peddie has to go and the sooner the better, he's the one that needs to go and not really JFR.

Cheers,

Mike

Time never runs out on a team just on some of their older players and fans.I'm 52 so the memories of watching them carry the cup around the ice are fading with my hair line!!

The question would imply that the current batch of players actually pose a threat to win the Cup... They are not even in sniffing distance. There should be no pressure to win it while we can, because this group simply cannot.

They're not running ou tof time just building for next year. . . or maybe the year after. Unless the worlds ends tomorrow they have all the time they need. What a stupid question.

Yes, the leafs are pushing the same story, mismanagement does run out of time, one thing they never run out of is claiming the headlines over and over again, please put a team in Hamilton to lighten the load of the leafs news, at least then we will have 2 Canadian teams in the leaque, Oh theirs more? wouldn't know it out west.....

This is a ridiculous question. I'm a Leaf fan, but 2 or 3 generations of players have gone by the boards since the Leafs last won the cup. Did we ask if the team was running out of time when Sittler was close to retirement?

Like FRT, I was 10 years old when they last won the cup and I'm approaching age 51 now - the Leaf faithful are running out of time and that's the real shame of it all.

Very well put,parney!!

But wait!!!..They'll win the cup next year!!..lol..At least, leafs fans have a good sense of humor. They need every bit of it too.The best part is...We get to "laff" with them EVERY Saturday night on H.N.I.C.That's the best joke of all.

Usually a team "running out of time" refers to a good team passing their prime who hasn't won it all yet. The difference here is that the Leafs are not a good time. I suppose if the context of the comment is "the Leafs are running out of time to make a run AT the playoffs", I might agree
