Should Glaus be suspended if he used steroids? Fri, September 7, 2007
The same Florida-based pharmacy that allegedly prescribed a year's worth of Human Growth Hormone to St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Rick Ankiel, also prescribed steroids for Blue Jays third baseman Troy Glaus, according to a Sports Illustrated investigative report.
The SI report alleges Glaus, then with the Anaheim Angels, received multiple shipments of steroids through an internet distribution network over a seven-month period, from September 2003 until May 2004. The four-time All-Star received Nandrolone and testosterone, according to the report.
Yes he rid of every player that has used steroids! They have give baseball not one but two black eyes! Only way to start getting any respect back is to make them the users pay big time. I use to be a fan but last few years have turned me off with the steroid issues. The integrity of baseball has gone down the drain as far as I'm concerned and giving the users harsh suspensions will be a start to get me interested again. But until then, hockey and football will be my sports.

I think it would be hard to suspend a player for using steroids when there isnt a rule stopping it. Dont get me wrong I am 100 % against using any kind of performance enchancing drugs. This mess should have been dealt with back in the mid 90's and very strict rules put in place when steroids started making the news. I feel first timers get a 1 year suspension and if caught a second time then a life time ban would stop players from using.

personally i don't care what these guys do in professional sports. We like to see the best and unbeleivable and they give it. Unfortunately it encourages millions of kids to do the same and its a serious issue. i beleive any one who violates a rule should be punished. Unfortunately in 2003 and 2004 steroids weren't banned in baseball. If you can prove he used them after, then fine. Just like every other athlete, including bonds. Drop the medical reason things. A doctor prescribes them and administers them when its medical. You don't self prescribe them and administer them

It's easy to slam down hard on Glaus, but as more info comes out surrounding the greater issue of steroid/supplement use, the conditions some players may have used it for vary.
Some, as we have seen with Bonds, Sosa, Sierra, McGwire, Brad Fullmer (all speculation candidates) used steroids to bulk up significantly. But the other use of steroids, has been to help recover from injury faster. This is why pitchers are getting caught in the web, as it helps in their recovery time.
I'm sure that given the time frame, is why Glaus may have used them, to try to recover from a lingering problem without surgery.
Problem with steroids, other than the known problems (acne, shrinking nads) is it also deteriorates cartilage. That's why you see so many of these roid freaks have very bad knees....Bonds anybody?

The only thing these guys will understand is a no tolerance rule.If proven guilty,a lifetime suspension,no appeals

The poll is a joke. Not surprisingly most want to give this guy a pass. Yet still want to lynch Barry Bonds. Both apparently used steriods prior to baseball banning them, yet only the head of one is asked for. Hmmm what is different?

It happened 3 or 4 years ago.
Just have him tested on a regular basis, that's all.

If they can't play without sreriods get them out of the league.Back a few years ago they didn't have anything. Fine them big time and kick them out.

Should he be suspended yes, will he be, no. MLB has to start cracking down on these guys. Baseball will be scarred until they start suspending these guys but Selig and the owners dont have the stones to do it right now since its the super stars and stars using.
Maybe when some one dies from using they will get tough on steroids but until then nothing will be done.

No one should be surprised anymore. This isnt just about Canseco, McGwire etc, steroids and growth hormones is wide spread in baseball and football.
Im sure they will be alot more named in the future.
